Is it possible?

Is our oldest REALLY old enough for church camp? Guess so....cuz she's GONE! They left Sunday, July 22 on a big charter bus. Please note, there were 5 chartered buses. Camp is for middle school AND high school, although they are going to the same place, the high school kids will be at a different camp. This first picture was taken at 5:45 a.m. as we were leaving home to head to the church; they had to check in at 6:00 a.m.

Our daughter did call home last night; but we only got to talk about 2 minutes - long enough for her to tell me she did a 650 ft. zip line - is that POSSIBLE? I bet it was fun, but my oh my!

Here are some great pictures...okay, so I'm the mom and biased - big deal! :) She was very excited leading up to the trip; but got a little anxious as we checked in and it was time to leave.

This picture is when we pulled into the parking lot at the church; she's tired, a bit nervous but trying with all her might to give me a smile. Oh she's a doll!!!

Hippest of Cats

Isn't this funny? I think so; hope you do too! Click on the picture to see it up close.

I made this as a birthday card for a friend's mother; she sent me a picture of her mom's cat - he's big, fat and happy! He's several colors so I just made him a 'hip' cat with many colors. Those 'paws' on the hips just crack me up.

I broke into a stash of patterned paper I had purchased at Hobby Lobby quite some time ago - do you like? I think it's deeeelish! :)
The base card is SU's Pixie Pink, layered with Certainly Celery, then layered with the floral printed paper and argyle paper. I used the green ribbon with white polka dots to hide where the two pieces of paper come together.

Now the cat and saying were RAK gifts from Cindy and Cindi - how's that, those two girls stepping up to help this cat-less girl out! Thanks ladies, I owe you!!

The cat is stamped on watercolor paper and colored with Aquacolor Crayons and Odorless Mineral Spirts. He's then layered on SU Pixie Pink paper and mounted to the card with dimensionals. The saying is layered onto SU Certainly Celery and then I added the pink gems; aren't they cute?

I made two of these cards, anyone need a cat birthday card? :)

Hope you're having a great week. Thanks for stopping by! ~M.

Another Year Without Croaking

Well...I've almost made it another year without croaking! Yep, that's right, my birthday is just around the corner...let's see.......TWO DAYS AWAY. Okay, okay, I'm much too old to enjoy my birthday T-H-I-S much; but I do. I drive my family and friends nuts, what can I say?

I actually made this card a few weeks ago for a friend. The inside says "You made it another year without croaking"; always appropriate for a birthday OR a teacher who survived another year of school! I stamped polka dots on the blue cardstock; then embossed the patterned paper with the Swirl Cuttlebug folder lightly sponged with white ink; then cut out the 'waves'.

The frog was colored with watercolor crayons and odorless mineral spirits on off-white cardstock; then mounted to a blue scalloped oval with dimensionals. (I know, I know Amy, I HAD to use the punches - LOL). I added the white polka dots to the scalloped circle. A cute and quick card.

Hope you are all having a great week; I sure am! We're counting down to my birthday at work, I'm in a new job, so I've annoyed my co-workers already; and I've reminded my children each day how many days are left. And then 5 days after my birthday, we'll celebrate my hubby's birthday. July is always a fun month in our household!

Take care and thanks for peeking in. ~M.

Smooshing Roses in Winter - Pink Style

So...how is your 4th of July going? Having a great time? We went to a birthday party - it sure was hot and humid here in Kansas! Of course, now it's pouring down rain...how are we supposed to do fireworks in the downpour of rain?

This is another "smooshing" roses technique on an Arturo Pale Pink Card. Stamped "Happy Birthday" and added some paper piercing in the corner - I like the touch the paper piercing gives, do you?

I love this technique of "smooshing"; it really does make the rose look more realistic! I learned it from Emily Giovanni's tutorial; her blog rocks!

Hope you've had a great day; thanks for peeking in! ~M.

Queen?

Oh yes, I AM QUEEN! My birthday is coming and everyone knows it. Ah...hard to believe at 'this' age, I'm still delighted when my birthday arrives...give me another 10 years and we'll see how I feel. LOL

I purchased this stamp a month or so ago and had never used it - I decided it was high time to ink it up and make a couple quick cards. I did 2 cards in these colors; each a bit different - but I'm only posting one of the pictures.

The base card is chocolate chip; layered with ?green - not sure which green (LOL); then some Basic Grey patterned paper on the left hand side; then I stamped the funky rectangles on the green to carry over the theme of rectangles from the patterned paper. Also pierced the green cardstock down the right hand side. I stamped the saying "If I'm not the Queen, then how come my pantyhose say I am??" on Whisper White and mounted on pink cardstock; added the 3 flowers and chocolate brad and voila - all done! I just think this saying is a hoot! Can't wait to use it again and put some jewels on the crowns, won't that be cute?

Please note Ms. Amy...I DID NOT use my 'circle' punches. :) I know, hard to believe I can make a card without my circle and scalloped punches huh?

Thanks for stopping by; I hope you each have a fabulous 4th of July! Go ahead...act like a kid for a day, light some fire crackers, sit by the pool, R-E-L-A-X!

July 4th Birthday Invite

One of my former co-workers and an extremely dear friend has a daughter that entered this world 1 year ago on July 4! What a day! This young lady was about 2 weeks over due and I thought her mommy was going to force her out (remember how miserable you are at 9+ mos. pregnant) - LOL!!

Since it's her first birthday, they decided to do firework related b-day invites and thank you cards. I haven't finished the Thank You cards as they'll be a bit different, but here's a look at the birthday invite I did. Nothing fancy; but it turned out nice for this young lady's special day!

The base card is Red embossed with the Cuttlebug Swirl Folder; I then layered white cardstock edged in blue and some blue glitter embossed paper from Michael's. Added some ribbon and then topped with a Giga Scalloped Circle punch layered with a Mega circle punch. The fireworks are stickers, I COULD NOT (quickly) for the life of me, find a firework stamp that would work...these stickers worked out great and had several different images in the package. I added white polka dots to the Giga Scalloped Circle, stamped the "Scalloped Frames & Doodles" from Gina K Designs around the sticker and lightly highlighted the swirls on the red cardstock with white ink; mounted the circle with dimensionals.

Even though this dear little girl is only 1 yr. old (almost), she approved of the invites with a B-I-G toothy grin!
