Happy Birthday - Mojo Monday Style

Hello friends,

I have been down and OUT with the flu so a super quick post from me, but it's packed with lots of info. First up is a card I created for an upcoming co-worker's b-day - she loves pink. She also loves black, but I'm a chocolate kinda girl...so I went with chocolate. Hope she doesn't mind!

I used Mojo Monday Sketch #162 - a round or square challenge; you can see I chose square. Pretty straight-forward stamping, distressing, sewing - fun! I stamped each size of the flower on Basic Grey's Basic Manila paper pack and cut each one out. I used the rock-n-roll technique with 2 pink VersaMagic inks. Very pretty IRL. Crumpled each layer, distressed with Jumbo Java ink and added an ever so fabby brad - LOVE IT!

K, on to a few more things!

TLT - Create Your OWN Designer Paper

This week's challenge was chosen by the amazing Ang! We were each to create our own designer paper and then whatever we wanted to do next - a card, a scrapbook page, a 3D item, etc. To be honest? I have no clue if I did this challenge correctly or not...but I am A-OK with that. LOL

I thought I'd show you what my* designer paper looked like before the final project. I used Chatty Nikki for my image (I *heart* Nikki images; I think they are my favorite); anyway, here's the designer paper:

It is soooo sparkly IRL; just super tough to photograph. Masks were used and then various glitter mists were sprayed over the masks; masks removed and voila, amazing designer paper!

I layered the DP on PTI's Dark Chocolate & Lavender Moon and accented with those colors throughout the card. The flower was created with PTI's Beautiful Blooms #3 floral die; two layers were cut from the custom DP; the other was cut from Dark Chocolate. I also used some blushing pearls to accent the center of the flower.

Nikki was colored with Copics and then MS clear glitter was added to her shirt and hair scrunchy. I'm telling you - she is one stylish chick!

Be sure to check out what the other Ladybugs have created for you; I promise some jaw-dropping - amazing - creations:

Hope you have a GREAT week; thanks for visiting, I love when you stop by and leave some love! Hugs, ~M.

I love this paper - it's from Nana's Kids paper pack and goes perfectly with the image, IMHO. See that twine on the left-hand side? It's chocolate and WHITE; but you'd never know it huh? I used my Copics to change the white to a gorgeous tan that matched the card perfectly!

Layout is from Jen's Sketch For You To Try; another fabulous sketch! Thanks for stopping by; be sure to check out what the other Rock Stars have created:

What if? Wednesday

Do you have your sunglasses? If not, better get some cause this one is BRIGHT! LOL Yesterday's may have been vintage-y and a bit muted, but this one is the extreme opposite.

It's What If? Wednesday at Repeat Impressions - just use the sketch and play along for your chance to win a $25 gift certificate to Repeat Impressions. Just visit The House That Stamps Built for all the deets and then join the fun!

I chose to use RI's Wild Violets stamp and some bright and colorful paper from Cosmo Cricket's Delovely paper pad. This card doesn't open; just flips over to write your message - I love making postcards like this - so quick, easy and super-duper handy!

The image was colored with Copics, added some saddle stitch Hibiscus Burst ribbon, yellow button, twine and then some of the super fun White Enamel by Ranger for the center of the flowers - it's AMAZING; dries almost instantly and is rock hard. LOVE THAT!!

TLT - Cats/Dogs in a Shabby/Chic/Vintage Theme

Yeah..was that a mouthful or what? LOL

This was Hayley's challenge and boy did it bring A LOT of grumbling from the Ladybugs. HA! I love when others stamp vintage-y creations, but me - well, I do not stamp vintage!!! Not even sure I can do shabby/chic - LOL...and with ANIMALS? Really?

K, enough whining - on to my creation. I used Magnum and I LOVE this image - I figured lots of brown and distressing and maybe I could pretend it was shabby/vintage!

I used a layout from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #88; great layout! I distressed all the DP AND used tons and tons of Antique Linen Distress ink. See that somewhat ivory ribbon? It's flocked and I used the Antique Linen on it too, it really changed the way it looks - so cool IRL! The entire card was layered on Kraft card stock that was sponged in VersaMagic Jumbo Java. I also sponged around the edges of the image with PTI's Vintage Cream and Antique Linen. I kept the colors of Magnum pretty muted except for that gorgeous flower!

The lower right hand corner says "diet starts tomorrow!", just cracks me up!!

Hopefully I've lived up to Hayley's challenge - I'm sure the girls will tell me exactly how I've done...that's just how they are...and Kerry uses a whip sometimes!

AND a few more housekeeping items:

Repeat Impressions Stamp of the Week - Round Pumpkin

Oh, I have a fun - cute - little card to share with you today! Our youngest two babes are still in elementary school and each year you can sign up for a secret pal - a teacher, aide, helper, etc. and gift them with little things throughout the year.

This year I have a teacher I've never met - she teaches Kindergarten and I've gotten her two things from her wish list and I'm going to include this little card.

I stamped the pumpkin; then covered it with a post-it note to stamp the image again on either side; I then paper pieced each one and mounted the middle one with dimensionals.

The polka dot paper is actually a bright white, but my base card is ivory so I used Antique Linen distress ink to change the bright white to a nice...well...Antique Linen color. LOL

I used the MS Lattice Arch Punch on the outside and inside strip of paper - one of my all-time favorite punches! I added a few shadows to the pumpkins and mounted on a scalloped nestability.

I added two strips of Scor-Pal tape and added some MS glitter to each strip - love the extra sparkle!

AND don't forget, this is the Stamp of the Week so you can purchase it for 50% off! Check out all the deets at The House That Stamps Built and while you're there, be sure to check out the other amazing Rock Stars:

TLT - One for the Boys

We're back with another Totally Ladybug Tuesday and this challenge is from Pinky called "One for the Boys". No other details were given and we haven't seen each other's creations, so this is just as much fun for US as it is YOU!

I chose to create with Football Jack - isn't he just adorable? Yeah, I know, if you're following me here in the US you're thinking that IS NOT Football Jack, that is Soccer Jack - LOL! You have to remember, these images originate from 'across the pond' in Scotland!

The beige twill was stamped with "MVP" and "Super Star" as well as the stars; the stars are two-tone, a blue-ish green and brown - they look pretty cool IRL. The soccer ball was stamped in Versamark on the Oceans Tide paper and then stamped 3 times on Ivory paper and clear embossed for the 3 soccer balls I cut out.

I used Jen's Sketch For You To Try, check it out for a super fun layout, and thanks Pinky for the great challenge!

Last? Be sure to check out the other Ladybugs, I promise they will have some amazing eye candy!

Thanks for popping in; it does my heart good when you visit! Hugs, ~M.

RI Stamp of the Week - Dracula

It's another Stamp of the Week at Repeat Impressions - you know what that means? YOU can purchase this same stamp for 50% off and with Halloween just around the corner, what a fabulous stamp! Be sure to visit The House That Stamps Built to see all the amazing creations and to learn how you can take advantage of this amazing discount!

Did you notice my dracula's got style - like that pur-dee bow tie? LOL

I really enjoyed coloring my friend; I used Taylored Expressions Sketch from 9/10/10, you can see it HERE. I used PTI's 2009 Bitty Dot Basics in Orange Zest and Smokey Shadow. I stamped the Orange Zest DP with black bats & embossed with clear embossing powder. I cut the strip up and sponged all the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink.

I colored Dracula with Copics and then sponged the edges with PTI's Vintage Cream & Black Soot Distress Ink, layered the image onto more polka dot paper and a final layer of white sponged with the Black Soot.

The large layer of Smokey Shadow polka dot paper was distressed for some additional interest. I tried to get a picture of the inside of the card as it has bats, some more dotty DP scallops, but my camera shut down and said "battery exhausted"...much like me! :( Sorry!

Now, won't you visit the other RI Rock Stars and leave them some love:

Thanks for visiting; hugs, ~M.

Oh do you remember the fun we had last month with the Ladybug Crafts Ink blog hop? Well this one is even BETTER! Kerry, Queen Ladybug, has a brand new stamp release - CUPCAKE CUTIES - and oh my, are they going to steal your heart!

Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net

Not only is she releasing new stamps; but she's also offering a very generous discount through the end of November - that's right, all the way through NEXT MONTH (deets at the end of the post).

AND that's not all - there will be 5 WINNERS during this blog hop! One person will win ALL FOUR STAMPS; then 4 more individuals will win one Cupcake Cutie each. If not, you can start at the beginning by clicking HERE! And along your journey, pick up the letters at the various blogs and e-mail the word it spells to Lisa (lisa.coe@btinternet.com).

And, don't forget to grab the banner above to display on your blog!

K, let's get this party started! My Cupcake Cutie is Cherry on Top and she's a doll (yeah, just like me!!)! I colored her in with Copics, paper pieced the cupcake holder - you can't really tell from the pictures, but I even crimped the paper, so it's like a "real" cupcake holder.

:D

I paper pierced all the DP which is one of my favorite lines - MME Quite Contrary. Added lots of glitter to the frosting and cherry AND lime stickles to my little cutie's skirt. She's looking "HOT" in her outfit!

OK, next stop on the hop is the amazingly gifted Mary J. And remember, leave each design team member some love along your journey. Thanks for stopping by to see my Cupcake Cutie; hugs, ~M.

Hey Dude - YOU ROCK!

Are you sitting down? Better be...I HAD A CHANCE TO CREATE!

Ahhhhhh....I feel so much better! We have an insanely busy weekend ahead and creating is just what the doctor ordered; amazing how much better I feel after I have a bit of time to myself doing what I love to do.

Last weekend our son was not able to attend a classmate's b-day party; but we still purchased a gift. I knew I wanted to make a card, but then decided to do something a bit different and made it into a gift card holder. I folded the bottom portion of the card up and adhered it with Scor Tape on either side so I could just slide the gift card inside.

The image is from Inkadinkado - In The Groove. I added the circle stamps around the main image in VersaMagic Wheat - next to impossible to see in the pictures, but cool IRL. All edges were distressed and several were sponged with VersaMagic Wheat & Jumbo Java.

For fun, I tore a few spots next to the main image; probably would have been easier/better if I had a "longer" area to tear, but still looks cool!

Hope the dude likes his card/gift and I hope YOU have a fabulous weekend! I'll be looking for fairies to come "whip my house into shape" while I work all day Saturday and then we have a double-header baseball game Sunday. GO BOMBERS!!!

OH - and before I forget, our fearless Queen Ladybug has an amazing offer for all Ladybug Crafts Ink stamps - check it out: "15% off orders via the website (HERE), plus free p&p worldwide for orders over £20 from now till the end of NOVEMBER, use code CB2010 in the voucher code button upon check out!
