Did you see this week's color throwdown (ctd466)?  Such beautiful fall colors, I absolutely adore them-and they aren’t colors I normally use when creating. But that’s half the fun right; giving you a chance to step out of your comfort zone and create something new and different. Even more amazing? I didn’t create with florals! LOL

I used this fun stamp set from Avery Elle, Brushed-I used distress inks to stamp the stripes at different lengths and at this point I totally changed my plan, and used the fun funky blueprints to cut the main panel. I then embossed the happy birthday and splatters in Ranger gold. The 'happy birthday' didn't pop much, so I added a shadow with a white gel pen, layered it on some sparkle gold from MFT, and then created a top panel embossing the stripes and highlighting with gold Delicata ink.

I mounted everything on a top folding card base, and decorated the inside also. Thanks for stopping by, hope you have a great week!

Hugs!

Amazing!

Does it happen to you? You stamp something and it just DOES. NOT. WORK.

I had set this image aside months ago and decided to pull it out and just play with my Copics, no constraints, doesn't have to be 'perfect; - just HAVE FUN! And what do you know; I kept working at it and I really ended up liking it! The image is stamped in a gray ink so the striped paper is actually a dark gray too. I added lots of colorful and jewel Nuvo drops to finish it off.

The 'amazing' was cut 4 times from Steel Grey cardstock with the final layer being the colored image...and check that out, I didn't lose any of the tiny pieces! YES, we should all take a minute and celebrate that feat - it's a big 'un for me!

Happy, happy birthday daddy-o!!

I am horrible at SENDING cards; yes - true confession! I'm much better about giving them in person as a gift, I don't write in them so they can use them in the future - like I did with THIS card. :D

BUT I got a wild hair and thought, I'll send my daddy-o a card for his birfday - yes, I call them birfdays and I think they are the greatest HOLIDAY ever!! If you don't follow my Instagram account, well you've clearly missed out on my insane excitement over my personal birfday!! I'm only 26, but I live it big each and every year. And yes, my oldest is 21 and I know you are REALLY struggling with the math, but it's all good, just go with the flow kids! ;)

His birthday was yesterday but in case snail mail hasn't arrived yet, I waited a day to post it.

I was browsing Pinterest for ideas and saw one similar to this and could quickly put my hands on the exact items I wanted to use. #bonus #stillorganizing

I created the background using Distress Oxide inks, sprayed my hand with water and dropped on some big water splotches...and some little ones. I then cut the background with MFT Blueprints 15. Meanwhile, I stamped the hippo, party hat and balloons and colored with Copics, then die cut. Envelope was cut from Reverse Confetti's True Love designer paper, I opened up the flap and tucked my little hippo inside as if he's floating up to the sky with his balloons.

I adhered everything together and placed on a black note card decorating the inside too. I really struggled to get a good photo of the inside of the card as my glossy accents from the front were R-U-N-N-I-N-G (also known as no patience, or possibly a last minute crafter)! See, I'm all about those true confessions! HA!

Thanks for stopping by; see you again soon!

Hugs!

YOU were made for AMAZING things!

It's fall - anyone ready for cooler temperatures, bonfires, chili, changing and falling leaves? I love fall - and spring too!

I loved the color inspiration at Color Throwdown (ctd463) this week (photo below); and the Verve layout (photo below) was perfect inspiration for a definite fall colored card! I love this set from Verve, Beautiful Things, so many great sentiments, not to mention the beautiful flowers!

I taped off the background of some water color paper and applied Gansai watercolors in block colors and allowed to air dry. Once completely dry, I flicked on some gold to match the liquid platinum embossing used throughout the card. The rest is simple stamping, embossing with a strip of designer paper and some enamel dots to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a GREAT week! Take care!

Hugs!

Friends and flowers

I had a dear friend that celebrated their birthday this past weekend; birthdays always require a card! And I actually make the card part of their gift so they can use it in the future. :D

I purchased the gorgeous Blooming Trio set during STAMPtemper, this particular stamp set is a collaboration between Simon Says Stamp and Studio Katia; I think the flowers are just gorgeous! I stamped and embossed the flowers twice on Ranger water color paper and colored with Tombow markers. Once complete, I added a wash of blue around the flowers and hand cut the image. I added some black/white striped paper and a piece of black glitter paper to the edge. I made the inside extra colorful with a birthday greeting from the same stamp set.
