Baby Thank You Cards...NOT!

Remember THIS card? I made this birthday card for an upcoming party in which the birthday girl loves baby blue. I knew I wanted to make her some personalized note cards that she could use as she saw fit. So...I venture out to find some pre-made baby blue note cards that I could alter.

So...I found the cards - they are labeled as "Sweet Baby Thank You Cards"...here's what they look like:

Easy enough to alter - made them all girly; carried through the baby blue theme and they come with the most adorable envelopes; so here's what we made:

Here's the stack of cards with the striped envelopes in the back; see how we totally covered the "Thank You" that was on the front? I think they turned out super cute - hope she likes them. AND since she's turning 13, we made 13 note cards!  :D

Birthday Purses

I love finding little treasures to alter and these are no exception! I found this pack of 10 purse note cards at the grocery store and altered 5 of them for a b-day party our youngest daughter attended. The b-day girl's favorite colors are lime green and pink so I worked really hard to pull those colors from the note cards.

What I find really funny about these cards is that I enjoyed altering the envelopes as much as anything! LOL

Afterwards, I thought I should have added a medium sized, beautiful lime green flower to the flap of the purse - where the small green flower is - but then hesitated as I know these are going to young girls and will most likely find their way to the trash can. :( So I wanted to keep them simple, yet personable!

Sorry for the major glare on this picture, the black card stock is very shiny so I had a hard time getting a good picture.

I added a strip of Dark Chocolate & Certainly Celery card stock to the envelopes, then stamped the faux ribbon in Certainly Celery from Stampendous.

Do you have plans this weekend? We've gone from 65 degree temps to 31 degrees and snow/sleet last night...it's still snowing today and hubby said the roads are very slick. Therefore, I'll do what everyone else would choose to do - I'll stay home and do laundry. Oh yeah baby, no one will have as much fun as me...NOT!

Desk Organizer & Stationery

As I mentioned a few times this past school year, I had a teacher as a secret pal and gave her gifts throughout the year. I couldn't help but almost always giving her something handmade. I know our teachers always ask for thank you cards, note cards, etc., so I decided to make my secret pal her very own desk organizer and stationery. Her favorite colors are purple and orange - but I just didn't have any DP that worked for those colors so I went with pink, orange and brown in polka dots and stripes. I have a ton of pictures to share so you can see the full project.

I used Lauren Meader's Desk Top Organizer Template from Papertreyink. If you haven't tried these templates - you HAVE to! You download the template along with several projects for you to peruse, then you can print the template as many times as you want - use it again and again...all for only $5 - how great is THAT?

I printed the template onto PTI's Sweet Blush paper, folded and glued. I then covered the areas with the brown DP (Sweet Always) from SU! but leaving a bit of pink showing too.

The note cards are like post cards - front and back only, they don't open like a typical A2 card. You can see I used the same DP in stripes for the note cards alternating her initial onto SU! Orange or Sweet Blush card stock. I really like how the set turned out. The very first picture shows the cards, the organizer and the matching envelopes. The "T" and circles are done with JustRite stamps. LOVE how you can customize whatever you want to - how convenient it is!! I also made a matching beaded pen (not pictured) and included a couple of candy bars to get the day started off just right. LOL!

We took all our gifts to school the last day and the children gave their gifts to their teachers. Our youngest daughter delivered this gift set to my secret pal - I included a note revealing me as her secret pal. It was such fun - I can't wait to do it again next year!!

And my last project to share today are more pictures from our youngest daughter's b-day party. We met at the park for cake & presents (is that cake not AMAZING - some dear friends made it as part of her b-day gift); it was so scrumptious; then we headed to see Up! opening night. The girls really enjoyed the 3D movie and to make the night even better? When we left the theater there was a REAL hot air balloon outside. We took lots of pictures! Enjoy the slide show!

Dots & Baseball

Hey there, how's everyone doing? Life has been so busy - insanely busy! I had a request a few weeks ago for a Thank You card for a friend's daughter's orthodontist. Anyone that has put their child through braces knows that swell of joy when the braces come off and the teeth look PHENOMENAL!!!

Our oldest is currently in braces - we have about 9 months left to go. Anyway, I had the toughest time coming up with a card - I couldn't find any 'dental' type DP but one night while lying in bed I had an A-HA moment. Yes, I'm blonde and these moments can be big ya know! LOL

I knew I wanted the card to be bright and I decided to use JustRite's small letter set to say just what they wanted to say (well, they didn't TELL me what they wanted to say, but I had a pretty good idea)!! "A Perfect Smile...Thanks To You...". The base card is SU! Regal Rose layered with Gina K's 80 lb. Pure Luxury white card stock. I stamped the sentiment in SU! Pumpkin Pie, SU! Regal Rose, SU! Close to Cocoa and SU! Chocolate Chip. I cut the polka dot strip of DP and layered it on Regal Rose...but the card still lacked something - too much white with the letters being small. So I kept working, not sure how to 'make it work' to my liking, but alas, it was late and I knew it would come to me. I stamped the main sentiment in Chocolate Chip and punched it out with a Marvy Circle Punch, I then layered it onto SU! Regal Rose and SU! Pumpkin Pie; as you can see the SU! Pumpkin Pie circle has scallops, so of course I had to add some white polka dots. I sponged the white card stock with both SU! Regal Rose & SU! Close to Cocoa. Added the large pink button tied it off with some hemp and white ribbon.

Once I decided to put the button in the center, I immediately knew how to finish off the rest of the card - add some polka dots. So I added polka dots (all 2nd generation, meaning they were inked and stamped off once before stamping onto the white card stock) in various colors inside each sentiment.

I delivered the card at 7 a.m. Friday morning and was DELIGHTED to hear they really liked it. I'm sure the orthodontist will appreciate it too - handwritten thank you cards have almost become extinct...unfortunately!!

And last is another brief slide show of baseball - oh how I love baseball season. I'm not sure if ANYONE gets as excited as I do about a baseball tournament! I love the other boys on the team, I love the parents, I love our coaches...oh I just love it!!! We played in Hutchinson about an hour away. We met at our Corner Mart at 7 a.m. and headed over. We got back into town, but I had another appointment, by the time we got all that done and arrived back home it was 6 p.m. We ended up having 3 other kids at our house to play - so that was six kids. Sometimes I think I'm insane! We played charades and had a BLAST!!!

This slide show features two of our coaches, they are AMAZING...they have the patience of a saint - thank goodness as I know our son can push the envelope. Poor guy. You can also see Coach Smitty in shorts, he was walking by as I took the picture. Our son is convinced he can't hit the ball (even though he had 2 RBI's earlier this year) so when he strikes out he comes unglued. He's #8 and typically plays 2nd base. He also pitched briefly this weekend and did fantastic - threw some serious strikes!! K...enough of me discussing my delight in baseball! BUT I will add our middle daughter has had 2 softball games and they have SPANKED the other teams. They are seriously good!!!

I'm B-A-C-K...

Said in my most sing-song voice! How in the world are you? I haven't seen all of you in ages! Between that deer vs. van accident and a horrendous sinus infection; I haven't stamped in over two weeks. Talk about withdrawal!

I didn't start feeling better till Sunday; but fortunately for me I had a reason to stamp Saturday. Ah...love when I'm *forced* to stamp - LOL! Our oldest daughter had a b-day party to attend; she's a tweenager now, so finding just the right item can be rather difficult. We bought the birthday girl a Nintendo game and then I made some monogrammed note cards for her - I mean really, what tweenager doesn't want her own monogrammed note cards?

But first, let's start with the b-day card I made. I used SU!'s Simple Birthday Thanks to make the card; you can see from the link, I omitted the words from the stamp and I paper-pieced everything but the cherry.

I also used a paper crimper on the bottom portion of the cupcake so its just like a real paper cupcake holder - its so cool IRL. I again, paper-pieced the top of the cupcake and added pink, orange and red jewels; nice sprinkles eh? Then doesn't that cherry look scrumptious and real? I colored it in using Copics and then added Crystal Effects for some shine. Here's a close-up of the cupcake so you can see the jewels and shine on the cherry.

The background of the card is stamped with SU!'s Linen background in Regal Rose (same color as the cardstock); I cut the entire cupcake out and mounted it with dimensionals on the actual card. My tweenager thought it was great, so whew, passed that one!

Now to the monogrammed note cards. I purchased 2 packs of these polka dot cards from the Target $1 spot quite some time ago. I've used them before, but never in anything I really liked; but I thought these turned out great!

I used the JustRite Curlz monogram set and inked it with two Dew Drop inks (nope, didn't write down the colors - sorry) stamped onto SU!'s vanilla cardstock. Punched it out with a Marvy Circle Punch and then punched a color coordinated Marvy Scalloped Circle. I added dots to the scalloped circle and to finish them off, I tied a ribbon across the top. They were so quick and simple, but the young lady was thrilled. Turns out I made just enough for the number of people she invited to the party, so her mom said she would use them as Thank You cards - YES, another home run!

Sunday was spent in OKC at a baseball tournament; we had 3 games and got home about 10:45 p.m., what a great day we had!

Monogrammed Note Cards

Finally...here they are!

I arrived home from work about 7 p.m. all excited about working out and then getting my post up on my blog. Darn TV isn't working so I had to scrap the work out. :( I'll see if DH can get it working when he's done mowing the lawn.

Two very dear friends had b-day's recently - I might wish them happy birthday on their special day, but I NEVER deliver a gift on their b-day. Uh...I think we call it procrastination!?! :D Hope they love me anyway. Let's get to it as I have sooo many pictures to show you!

I gain so much inspiration from Emily Giovanni, she's an amazing stamper; very creative. Hence the idea for the note cards using the DIY JustRite Stamper. This uses the Damask stamping set; such adorable borders!

I made a total of 8 note cards; these yummy chocolate ones and then some burgundy/red ones.

I love both sets; such a variety in colors and images of the paper.

I used the same Damask JustRite stamper for both sets of note cards; packaged them up and we're set. They were super fun to make and really quick - I whipped all 8 out in one night (pretty good for me...sometimes my stamping takes hours - depends how many interruptions I get from our 3 little ones! LOL)

Next are more monogrammed note cards for another friend and a jumbo paper clip bookmark; first time I've made one of those!

Talk about totally different monogrammed cards eh? I made these vertical rather than horizontal and used the Curlz font with the fun borders from JustRite stampers. My favorite part about these note cards? See that beautiful floral paper on top of that scrumptious Sweet Blush card stock from Papertreyink? Well that paper is SELF-ADHESIVE - no joke; I about died when I figured that out!!! Just cut to the size you need; peel off the backing and voila it's ready to layer onto your card stock. How C@@L is that???

I tend to be a bit of a paper hoarder; kinda sorta...maybe! I bought this pad of paper ages ago - who knows where. I remember it saying self-adhesive, but hey, I said I hoard the stuff, not use it! I wanted these cards to be totally different so I was flipping through paper packs and really liked this paper with the Sweet Blush card stock. And let me tell you, that Sweet Blush card stock? It's like buh-tah; it cuts so nicely, scores so nicely - LOVE IT!!! Too bad I waited so long to buy some. Means I need to buy some more of their paper; lots of new colors to choose from!

I've had these jumbo clips for awhile too...hmmm...guess I hoard a lot huh?

I made the flowers using a Sizzix flower die; used a SU punch for some of the smaller flowers, a prima and a neon green brad. One side of the jumbo clip is the floral patterned paper, the other is Sweet Blush.
I used some Sweet Blush twill ribbon to tie them off. I really like the way they turned out; can't wait to make some more. You can see how to make them over at SCS; check it out!
