Thanks Fusion; much appreciated!!

2-4-6-8, who do we appreciate?

THIS post? Well, a couple things:

1 - it shocked me, everyone is featured, but never ever dreamed it would be moi!
2 - the title 'who do we appreciate' took me back to my cheer-leading days (as you can tell from the title of my post) - HA!
3 - thank you, what an absolute honor!
4 - be sure to check out the rules for joining the fun - HERE - then JOIN. THE. FUN.!

Thank you SCS for the incredible honor; I can't wait to see all the creations; hope you will join the fun!

Hugs,

UR C O O L

Hi there friends; how's your weekend going? Are you stuck in #snowmagadden; we aren't, in fact we don't have any snow at all...it's cold, but certainly tolerable compared to what some are experiencing!

Smiley from Millan.Net

if you 'enbiggin', you can probably see the score lines on the white heart; just some fun dimension
I have a friend that requested a Valentine card for her daughter; her fave color used to be purple...now it's dark blue. PURDY!! I don't have a lot of dark blue so I decided to use paper, some sparkle and LOTS OF HEARTS with very limited stamping. In fact, the ONLY stamping are the 'xoxo' and "love" on the focal point. Those were embossed in white, then I used Chipped Sapphire and a blue clean color brush mixed with water for some fun water color! The rest are die cuts and washi tape.

envelope
I HAD to include the envelope; I was able to keep the entire 'U R  C O O L' sentiment which I cut from the inside heart and apply direct to the envelope - love when accidents happen! Thought it would be prefect for a young teenage girl.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a great weekend, see you soon!

Hugs,

Retro Sketches 198

Hi friends - how's your week going? We are having some nasty weather, ice... BOO!! I don't mind snow, but I am certainly not a fan of ice!

I adore the sketch this week at Retro Sketches (see below or click the hyperlink); talk about a great sketch to make a bunch of cards! You can layer it up or keep it completely CAS (clean and simple); I made 2 cards using a super old Cornish Heritage Farms stamp set by Kim Hughes - sorry about that, but I truly adore the stamp set and thought the images were just perfect!

For one I used a MFT tag builder, stamped the cake on patterned paper then used some espresso pearls for the icing - seriously, does that not look good enough to LICK! Don't do it. HA HA, but I love how awesome it looks as frosting! Just using up paper scraps to finish it off.

For the other card, I used the square pierced dies from MFT and cut 2 sizes one inside the other to create a little frame; I stamped the present - also on patterned paper, cut it out and colored it with Copics. I decided to stamp just the balloon outside the frame and tie it to the present with some hemp cord.

Both are simple but perfect little birthday cards.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a great week! Take care!

Unforgettable

Hi friends - thanks for stopping by!!

Remember this set from WPlus9 - such a popular set...and elephants are STILL really popular - absolutely unforgettable. ;)

I made this card a LONG, LONG time ago; I actually created the water color piece and cut out the section you see for another card but was determined to use the negative space for a second card!

I stamped the adorable elephant and 3 balloons, using a bit of masking, and colored all the images with Copics to match the watercolor piece. I added a paper pieced balloon to the inside - a perfect birthday card!

Inside

To finish it off I distressed the edges - pretty simple and straightforward!

Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a GREAT week!

*insert heart* + U

Hi friends - how was your weekend? Ours was good - very low key which was nice...BUT COLD!!! It was 5 degrees this morning, with wind chill -8 degrees - YIKES; that's nuts! I haven't checked temps lately but REALLY hope it's warming up as my boys are hunting this afternoon!

I recently purchased Lawn Fawn's Stackable Hearts and AGAIN CASE'd Laura (HERE). These hearts are a bit smaller so they actually fit within an A2 sized card. I used distress inks for the shading: Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Worn Lipstick; I sprinkled on some MFT Shimmer Mist and Mister Huey's Opaque White. Just like Laura, every other heart was raised with dimensions. I cut the arrow and "U" from American Crafts black glitter card stock and placed the arrow behind the tiny heart right in the middle.

I spy some new washi tape too (inside of card and envelope), also from Right at Home! I added 3 embossed lines at the bottom of the card to finish it off - pretty clean and simple with lots of white space but oh how I love the sparkle and shine!

Thanks for peeking in; hope you have a great weekend!!

Hugs,

Smiley from Millan.Net
What can I say... HA, but I'm here to share some love with you now...early, we're not even to February yet!

They are both straightforward and simple (I'll share the other one soon) - stamping, coloring, embossing and some sewing. Enjoy and thanks for stopping by!!

So thoughtful

Remember that time you needed some 'quick' THANK YOU cards and you decided to CASE a card...and it ended up being anything but 'quick'? Hmmm...never happened to you? Boy, did it happen to me. I adore the final cards but they were not even remotely quick! HA! I made 4 of these bad boys!

The focal image is scribble roses and layered leaves from MFT; each was cut 3 times from neenah white 80 lb. card stock and adhered together with spray adhesive. These were layered onto a piece of Tim Holtz water color paper cut with Blueprints 15 and  sponged with Picked Raspberry and Mustard Seed. Once I finished the sponging, I dripped on some MFT shimmer mist - LOVE the sparkle it adds. I used my misti to stamp the sentiment from Concord and 9th twice in Hero Arts black, so it was very dark. The entire focal panel was layered on neenah 110 lb. white top folding card with foam adhesive,  I added a little strip of black and white washi. The inside was decorated with more washi and the sentiment "thanks so very much".

glossy accents rather than sequins

I finished the outside off with sequins from Verve Visual and one was fnished with glossy accents for something a bit different. Again; love how these turned out, but goodness sakes, I could have saved a ton of time; here's a few ideas for saving time:
  • Only use 1 layer of die cuts (rather than 3 of each as I did)
  • Sponge a smaller area with ink - like the CASE'd card
  • No sequins or glossy accents
  • Make it a one-layer sponged card
Hmm...I should take note of my own time saving ideas sometime. HA!

Thanks for stopping by; here's hoping your 2016 is off to a GREAT start!

Hugs,

Hi...remember me?

WOW - 2015 has gone out with a bang and 2016 is here!! Here's a brief rundown of life since Friday the 13th (11/13/15)...

After many months of tests and procedures, my mom was diagnosed with B Cell Lymphoma, she started chemo 12/15/15, it's been anything but good since then. BUT we do believe she will beat this.

I had outpatient surgery 12/21/15.

My computer decided to crash and burn 12/23/15. Whee, I did not have a new computer on my Christmas wish list, but I like my new computer!!
Smiley from Millan.Net

So I'm finally back to posting - goodness sakes, it's been awhile! I have tons of things made, just need some time to share. I made this vintage Santa card several months ago; obviously planned to share it before Christmas, but sometimes life just does not work out as planned.

Meanwhile, anyone thinking about their 'one little word' for 2016? I have a couple rolling around in my head, need to find the one that STICKS! If you have yours chosen, share with me, I love hearing from YOU!

Thanks for stopping by; hope to see you again soon!

Hugs,
