This week at The House That Stamps Built we are CASE'ing (copy and share everything) a card made by Lynette - and let me say - IT IS GORGEOUS!!!
As I mentioned Tuesday, I am working to build up my stash of cards, so once again, I created 2 cards, each just a bit different.
I used the same image as Lynette - Daffodils - and embossed them in white on vellum which was adhered to a piece of white cardstock - lightly sponged in yellow. I colored the images on the back side of the vellum with watercolor pencils - love how this turned out!
Before we go any further, would someone PLEASE tell me what you use to adhere vellum? I have tried SO MANY THINGS, they either show the adhesive OR don't hold the way I want them to - so if you have some input, please share!
OK, Lynette's card is this beautiful birthday card, like I said, SO gorgeous don't you think?
My base card was white for each, then I added the various embossed layers and designer paper. One, I tied the ribbon around and made a bubbly bow, the other I punched the edge of card stock with a MS deep edge punch, then adhered a piece of ribbon without wrapping it around.
Thanks Lynette, I greatly enjoyed your creation!!
WHAT'S IT TAKE?
Stamps: Repeat Impressions Daffodils
Papers: GKD 120 lb. & 80 lb. white, vellum, DP by Cosmo Cricket
Ink: SU! Craft White
Accessories: white embossing powder, watercolor pencils, misc. ribbon, MS border punch
Beautiful cards! I have no idea howto adhere velum, if you get the answer I'd love you to share it!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards, Michele! Excellent job casing Lynette's card! The best tip I have for adhering vellum is to cover up the spot where your adhesive is! You can use a small dab of Glossy Accents or something in the corners, for example, and then cover it with pearls or dew drops. It's a common problem - you're not alone! - and the reason I hardly ever use vellum!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome cards, Michele - love the bright, cheery colors! Double-sided Duck Tape works pretty well for adhering vellum. I think you can still get it at JoAnn's.
ReplyDeleteMy FAVORITE flower!!! Love the colors of the card, very sunny & bright! As always, great job Michele! Love ya, BFF
ReplyDeleteyour cards are lovely. when i stick vellum sometimes i just use mini glue dots then wrap with ribbon. Most of the time i just punch holes and use brads. In a pinch glue stick but have to spread it out very thin with finger. stamping sue

Wow they are so gorgeous Sue, the daffodil is just beautiful and looks so elegant in all the colours:)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards Michele and a great design to CASE - I hardly ever use velumn, cos its too trickly to hide the adhesive, but a dot or two of a strong ahedive can be hidden behind a gem or other embellishment

I love the daffodils - one of my favourite flowers.

ReplyDeleteHi Michele
ReplyDeleteWow,beautiful cards!!
Such a soft and pretty look.
I never use vellum for this very reason but will definitely try some of the tips left here.
Thank you for linking up to Make It Monday this week.
Michelle :-)
Absolutely gorgeous Michele! That vellum looks so pretty. Like the others, the only thing I know to do is to use embellishments to cover the spots where you used adhesive.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, love the colours and detail thankyou for joining us at fab'n'funky

Michele, these arE beautiful. My Mum loves Daffodils, think I might have to look for a nice stamp to make her a card :)
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I know of like the others is to cover with an embellishment, no matter what "invisible" tape you buy, it always shows :(
xx
Oh my! What beauties you have made! Lovely spring cards!
ReplyDeleteThese are absolutely beautiful Michelle and a welcome change from all the wintery cards! Thanks for joining in with this week's PTW challenge.x
ReplyDeletePS I use one of those roller glue/tape things to stick vellum as they're virtually invisible. Let me know if you don't know what I mean and I'll send you a link. xx
Hi honey! I have used a glue runner before but I can't remember the make, but Glue Dots also do a vellum glue. You can see it here from a UK shop...
