Love to Scrap Challenge Blog

WELCOME BACK to another fun challenge at Love to Scrap; this is one where anything goes and we love to see what YOU create!

I'm sharing the birthday card I made for our son, the photos aren't the greatest and I apologize!!

He loves orange, it has been his favorite almost his entire life; there was a brief time as a little guy, when he liked green, but that ran it's course and it was back to orange. 😉

I love this pickup from Honey Bee Stamps; this was my first time coloring it - I can't wait to do it in red! I added packages to the tailgate and a HB2U license plate and then lots of rust. Does it read as rust?

There are several great images online of people that have colored the truck, hence where the rust idea came along. I finished it off with glossy accents on the mirrors and tail lights. I also made it into a shaped card with the base of the card being orange.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my project, we can't wait to see what you create!

Hope you will pop over and join us at the Love to Scrap Challenge Blog - we love seeing what you create!

Candy Canes, Candy Canes!

If you read my last post, then you know my pure love with this die set from Honey Bee Stamps, Lovely Layers: Candy Cane.  😍

Needless to say, they have appeared on many of my holiday cards this year and you can see, they are the focal point on this card, this time appearing in pink and blue. I love when you put all 3 layers together; although I do have one card in which only 2 layers are shown (coming later).

Another favorite for me this year, is the Tufted 3D embossing folder from Spellbinder's. Again, lots of shading as well as glittery stickles and Opaque Texture Paste

The sentiment is from Waffle Flower, Overlapping Christmas Words and Stencil set. All inks are Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Ink cubes.

The beautiful embellies are from Papertrey Ink Moonshine and Tropical Teal.

Thanks for popping in, wishing you and yours the happiest holiday season!

Happy Holidays 2024 - Green Candy Cane?

Hi friends!!

Hands down, I believe my most favorite holiday set is a die cut set from Honey Bee Stamps - Lovely Layers: Candy Cane.

I have used this set on so many cards, I love adding 'snow' and 'glitter'; love the different ways you can do the candy canes. I really love cutting the pieces from colored cardstock and adding shading - FUN!!

This card also uses a die cut from Pinkfresh, Rounded and Braided Rectangle, the pattern paper has been in my stash for...um...we'll leave that right there. lol

The greeting is from Waffle Flower - quick and easy!! Most of the cardstock comes from Taylored Expressions

Thanks for popping in, wishing you and yours the happiest holiday season!

Donut Worry, Be Happy!

Good ole quote, but seriously, if you can eat all these donuts with zero impact, so worth it, am I right?

I thought the Color Throwdown 786 (ctd786) was the perfect challenge for this card. The stamp set is from Taylored Expressions, Donut Days, it's a cling and clear set, also has an individual donut die, and the cutest donut mini strip sentiments! The little clay hearts are from Trinity Stamps.

Remember, sprinkle kindness everywhere...even on your donuts. 😉

Thanks for stopping by!

HELLO 2024! Mix It Up Challenge Blog - Mixed Media

 Hi friends,

How are you? Ready for 2024, did you get to read the terms and conditions before it arrived?  😁😂

We're back for another fun year of Mix It Up challenges, this round we're focusing on mixed media - I had made this card before I knew the challenge but I have lots of mixed media on this mini slimline card.

I so love these candy canes from Honeybee Stamps; all the elements of my card come from the die set with cardstock from Taylored Expressions. I shaded some of the elements, also with Taylored Expressions inks.

The base scalloped layer was cut with a Taylored Expressions mini slimline die, and embossed with a 3D embossing folder (sorry, I failed to write down which one 😟); alas you can't see much of it, but peek hard. lol

Once embossed, I sprayed with both Frozen Fog and Peppermint Stick mica distress sprays; the shimmer is insane! I set this aside to dry and worked on the candy canes - there are so many options in how you put them together, you truly can't go wrong! I used pink, white, and red. Once adhered, I used glossy accents as the base for all the snow - including the drips - I think the snow is my favorite part! Once added, I sprinkled on rock candy glitter and set aside to dry. I then watered down, slightly, some Honeybee brilliant white ink to splatter on the greenery and berries. the bow was cut from bright white glitter paper. Some white gel pen was the final touch.

Thanks for stopping by; I hope you will join us, we'd love to see your creations over on the Mix It Up Challenge Blog!!

MIUCB - Anything Goes + optional Distressing (ink or tool)

Hey you - welcome back for some inspiration at Mix It Up! For our next challenge - always "Anything Goes" but if you want to add the twist of distressing (ink or tool), that's great - but remember, never a requirement!

Have you seen the Create in Quads stencils from Taylored Expressions, I love them and had a ton of fun with THIS one. I love these colors and distressed the edges of the main panel with a distressing tool.

The foiling on these trees is so beautiful as is the sparkle of snow; and this champagne from the Viva Las Vegas papers is SO DIVINE; I used it as the shadow to the "Merry" die from Honey Bee Stamps (retired); also embossed a sub-sentiment from the same set. Love all the sparkle and shine!

Thanks for popping in; hope to see you again soon, and don't forget to join the fun at Mix It Up!

Love to Scrap Challenge Blog - the gang is back!

Hi friends! I am so excited to announce the design team is B-A-C-K at Love to Scrap! It's always Anything Goes and we love seeing your creations!

This month, I'm sharing a Christmas card I created - sadly, I created it a few months ago, so let's see if I can test this 'older' memory and remember how I created it. 😁

The floral stamp in the background is Hope from Concord & 9th; I think it may be retired, but found it elsewhere. I used watercolor paper, spritzed the base image before stamping and then added the other layers full strength.

I also stamped this Tim Holtz ledger stamp in multiple places. I added lots of sponging then tapped on some white gouache and Crankling Campfire distress spray. Finished it off with washi tape, an embossed sentiment on vellum, and lots of Doodlebug sprinkles.

The sentiment and die cut are from Honey Bee, Fa La La (retired).

Thanks for popping in; hope to see you again soon!

LTSCB - Anything Goes (Cup of Friendship)

A challenge that everyone loves over at Love to Scrap - ANYTHING GOES! I made this card quite some time ago - some quick/easy water coloring.

The image is from Reverse Confetti, Cup of Friendship. I embossed the image in white and simple water coloring, plenty of mistakes, but it's all about learning and enjoying the time - that's all that matters! The sentiment is from Verve Visual and no longer available, but it sure is adorable!

Love to Scrap - Anything Goes

Hi there, thanks for stopping by! This month at Love to Scrap, ANYTHING GOES - always a favorite!

Remember THIS card? I created another one using different colors and different embossing folder - this one says SPRING to me! Raise your hand if you're ready for some gorgeous temps? 🙋

I also colored this one with Copics, softer colors. I blended Sprinkles ink on the background and a bit brighter blue, Gumball, on the focal point.Very clean and simple; I used Nuvo drops to finish off the berries.

See you again soon!

Love to Scrap Challenge Blog - it's ANYTHING GOES

Hi friends! It's ANYTHING GOES at Love to Scrap Challenge Blog; I hope you will join us!

I created two of these cards (I'll show the other one soon) recently and they are very different; they both use the Simon Says Stamp + Honey Bee Collaboration On My Mind; such a beautiful set with so many great sentiments!

I embossed the kraft card stock and brushed on some white ink to help the embossing pop. The image was stamped on water color paper and cut with the matching die. I used Copics to color the image, added some gold stickles and popped the focal point up with fun foam to finish it off. A pretty simple card!

Thanks for stopping by; hope you and yours are safe and healthy!

Mix It Up #39 - Anything Goes + Open Technique

This is always a fun challenge - open technique/anything goes - try any technique, new or old! I hope you will join us!

I did two cards with the direct ink to paper technique, only showing one here - I'll be back with the other one soon!

After swiping several inks directly on the paper they felt a bit too bright, so I then swiped randomly with Hero Arts white ink and love how it turned out! I then cut the panel with a scalloped die.

I white heat embossed on vellum this beautiful floral image from SSS, fussy cut and attached to the card. I then added several sequins and stamped the 'hello' from Taylored Expressions in the lower left-hand corner in Gina K obsidian black ink.

Super clean and simple card, but oh so colorful!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you will join us at Mix It Up this month!

This one is some various heart designer paper with Pure Poppy card stock as the base. I added an embossed sentiment from Taylored Expressions cut with their asymmetrical die (although tucked into the bow, you can't really tell). :D

Red and/or Pink Equals Love - LTSCB 130

Red and/or Pink equals love, PARTICULARLY when it comes with a gift card. ;) HA!

Hope you will join us this month at Love to Scrap where it's pink and/or red; we have lots of inspiration for you!

I have so enjoyed this Honey Bee Gift Card Present Box die set; I will be making these for every single occasion and for no occasion at all - a GREAT way to use up the last pieces of 6x6 paper pads I may have. I don't make a lot of 3D items, but I am really enjoying this one - in fact, I made a total of 3!! I'll share one with you today and over the next week, share the other two. SO. MUCH. FUN.!

On the insert of this one, I stamped Happy Valentine's Day and some hearts in Versamark and covered with Gina K white detail powder. The sentiment and hearts are from an older Verve Visual set (they are no longer in business) but I sure love the look of those hearts!!

Thanks for stopping by; hope to see you again soon as I have lots of posts lined up for you! Have a great week!!

HI...I'm functioning!

Hi friends - I really have missed blogging and sharing cards; I've mainly been sharing anything I have created on Instagram; definitely my favorite way to share...but sometimes details are important to some.

But first, let's go backwards in time! I had some dental work done in August and have NEVER experienced pain as bad as that (and I've had 7 bodily surgeries, so I have some room for comparison)...and it never ever stopped. Nothing over the counter worked; switched to opioids, developed a reaction to those which actually intensified the pain - TRUTH! After 5 weeks, I reached out to the #1 pain specialist where we live and they were able to provide some immediate medication for relief. For the next several weeks, we continued to tweak medication to try to bring me additional relief; I would go to my son's football games and not remember ANYTHING. He's a senior, NOT how I wanted to live this season of my life. I would go to work with zero makeup on, didn't care; just tried to survive, couldn't do anything at home, felt like a nightmare! Oh...I failed to mention, I had a total of 3 oral surgeries in about a month timeframe - yep, tis true.

Anyway, I won't take you through the entire nightmare but at the 11 or 13 week mark (I can't remember and don't want to scroll through all the notes in my phone about this situation...), I was granted an appointment with an orofacial pain dentist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. I was ultimately diagnosed with Central Mediate Pain...basically mixed wiring of my central nervous system; sending pain messages that are inaccurate. The doctor was pleased with the medication being used to treat this and recommended we find a dosage that allowed me to live my life at the same level I was before this occurred; which to me meant attending my kid's activities and remembering them (duh, slight detail), functioning at home, exercising, crafting, etc. After 6 months and thousands of doctor's bills (oh, I forgot to mention I saw 7 different specialists where we live before going to Mayo - none had a clue), we have finally found a level of pain medication that allows me to pretty much enjoy life. Lack of sleep and increased stress exacerbates the pain, but I'm doing all I can to manage those two items.

We are wrapping up 2018 with a 6-day hospital stay for our youngest daughter which began Thanksgiving Day; then last week my hubby and our son both had surgery. WHEE; I don't mean to wish away time, but I'm ready to say 'see ya later 2018, don't let the door hit you in the you know what' and here's hoping 2019 is a GREAT year!!

So let's move on to why you actually stopped by!! I created an entire card - HA! I have lots of semi-finished projects going but was delighted to have a real reason to finish a card. This is one of Suzy's Snowmen Prints colored with Copics and colored pencils. I cut the panel with this SSS die; layered the focal point on fun foam, used a piece of Reverse Confetti designer paper (Winter Solstice) - which was the inspiration for the colors - and then I added these insanely adorable bulbs from Honey Bee FA LA LA die set. I cut the bulb from vellum so it wouldn't hide any of the image or words and the base from MFT silver shine card stock. The base card is Aqua Mist from PTI.

And sorry; but for now I'm not able to take pictures where I normally do, so the quality isn't quite as good!!

Thanks for stopping by; here's hoping I can get back to some regular creating and posting! Have a great day!
