LTSCB - Happy Halloween (a few days late)

At Love to Scrap Challenge Blog, it's always ANYTHING GOES, but this go-round, I'm sharing the suitcases I made for our kids for Halloween. These photos were right before I put the luggage 'handle' on them, but you still get the gist!

For the past few years, I've made a card for each of our kids (3 + 2 in-law kids); but this year, I created one suitcase per family / kid, but gifted things to encompass everyone.

Teal is for our oldest daughter, Forest Green is for our youngest daughter and hubby, Orange is for our son and wife. I put $31 cash inside the suitcases, then gifted other fun things to each kiddo.

The suitcases are a die from Papertrey Ink, they are an absolute favorite for 3D gifts. I used one for our son's couples shower with his bride-to-be.

For all of these, I added hot foil using the Spellbinder's web background with opaque black foil, then shading around the edges. I then die cut everything possible - HA - from Pretty Pink Posh: Halloween Mug Additions, Big Halloween Cupcake Dies, Spooky Mug Additions, Ghost Holders Die, Spooky Fence Die, I think that's all of them.

I then started shading and layering all the pieces - I kept each suitcase similar in layout.

I hope you enjoy seeing these and are inspired to create your own 3D project, we'd love to see it, or as always, ANYTHING GOES, is an easy one - so join us!!

MIUCB - Paper Piecing or Anything Goes

Hello, friends! Welcome back to another challenge at the Mix It Up Challenge blog! This time we're focusing on Paper Piecing; however, we always welcome ANYTHING GOES, too!

I took a bit of liberty with the "paper piecing" and didn't use it in the typical sense I am familiar with! Instead, I used this sweet doggy from Pretty Pink Posh and paper pieced on some different colors of cardstock for one of his ears, the patch over one eye, and his tail (it's sticking out from the side of the package). I actually did it to one of his paws too, but it ended up being hidden by the bow.

This card was 100% CASE'd from Nichole Spohr; she provides so much inspiration! I made two of these cards and gave the other to our soon to be daughter-in-law for her birthday.

I cut the ribbon and bow from super sparkly silver paper. I cut the circles from a darker purple than the gift box, but then added copic coloring to give them even more dimension, I REALLY love how they turned out!

My color inspiration came from Pinterest, HERE.  The base was a wonky stitched rectangle, also from Pretty Pink Posh; if you zoom in, you can see I also used the cascading star stencil  with clear sparkle paste.  I added lots of splatters to the background and finished the design off with a little bling.

Thanks for stopping by; whether you're paper piecing or just creating - please take a moment and share your design with us, we love seeing them!

Mix It Up Challenge Blog - Paper Piecing

Hi friends - I hope this note finds you doing well. How's your weather? Ours is cooling off a bit and I am LOVING IT! I'm a 75 degree girl all the time; thankfully, we get to experience all the seasons, but Spring and Fall are definitely my favorite!!

At Mix It Up Challenge, we're playing with paper piecing, but we always allow Anything Goes too! And that's what I did for this challenge...Mixed Media with all the Tim Holtz Sprays and some sparkle!

The stamp set and dies are from The Greetery, BotaniCuts Toadstool Garden and Bountiful Wreath (no longer available). I had these toadstools left over from another project and taking inspiration from Kelly Lunceford is how my card was made.

The background is the Square Dance die, also from The Greetery; I cut it from Lawn Fawn's textured pink cardstock. I used Pawsitively Guava ink around the edges.

All images were sprayed or dripped with a mix of Peppermint Stick, Frozen Fog,  Sparkle spray and white gouache

This was a really fun card to put together; it took forever to create - lol - but I love the final product!

Thanks for stopping by - I hope you are inspired to join us with either paper piecing OR anything goes; we enjoy seeing your creations!

And the last Pink and/or Red Equals Love - LTSCB #130

And I'm back with...you guessed it, another Honey Bee Gift Card Present Box. You can see the first two I shared HERE and HERE. This one is some various heart designer paper with Pure Poppy card stock as the base. I added an embossed sentiment from Taylored Expressions cut with their asymmetrical die (although tucked into the bow, you can't really tell). :D

Thanks for stopping by; have a great weekend!

Red and/or Pink Equals Love - LTSCB 130

Red and/or Pink equals love, PARTICULARLY when it comes with a gift card. ;) HA!

Hope you will join us this month at Love to Scrap where it's pink and/or red; we have lots of inspiration for you!

I have so enjoyed this Honey Bee Gift Card Present Box die set; I will be making these for every single occasion and for no occasion at all - a GREAT way to use up the last pieces of 6x6 paper pads I may have. I don't make a lot of 3D items, but I am really enjoying this one - in fact, I made a total of 3!! I'll share one with you today and over the next week, share the other two. SO. MUCH. FUN.!

On the insert of this one, I stamped Happy Valentine's Day and some hearts in Versamark and covered with Gina K white detail powder. The sentiment and hearts are from an older Verve Visual set (they are no longer in business) but I sure love the look of those hearts!!

Thanks for stopping by; hope to see you again soon as I have lots of posts lined up for you! Have a great week!!

Hugs,

A Little Note for You

I stamped the beautiful Kind Soul stamp set from WPlus9 on this large Lawn Fawn tag and embossed with white embossing powder. I added a base coat of watercolor, then used Copics, then a pencil for the nooks and crannies as Kathy teaches - not sure what I think about it. LOL

Once the image was finished, I added a wash of light blue, then layered with a stencil and used Unicorn ink to add the stripes. Some Nuvo drops, a sweet sentiment and some misc. designer paper finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by; have a great week!

Hugs,

Happy Birthday - Another Mix It Up!

Hi there! I've been working on a top secret project so I haven't had much time to create extra things but my boss had a birthday - just turned 88 and comes to the office most days. Talk about inspiration!!!

And think how delighted I was when I realized my card fit the Mix It Up challenge this month (sentiment as main focus) - totally unintentional!

Ultimately, I'm not sure I'm thrilled with how the card turned out but I'm all about rolling with it and not being quite so self critical - we can all use more self love, #amiright?

I used distress oxide inks which aren't quite as vibrant as regular distress inks and I think that's my issue but I still think he'll like it! The outside and inside sentiment come from Mama Elephant Birthday Wishes (inside says: to a person that is charming, talented and witty, and reminds me a lot of myself. HILARIOUS!). I added a balloon from PTI's Birthday Balloons; everything on the cover was embossed in white before the colors were added. I also dropped on white ink, peacock feathers and twisted citron.

And of course, I decorated the envelope to match too; that might be my favorite part - HA!

The base panel was also created with watercolor paper and a couple different size paintbrushes just dipped in water, peacock feathers and twisted citron. I thought it would be fun to add some black accents to the thicker lines and then lines to the sentiment. I didn't worry too much about which lines were going which way on the sentiment, just thought it tied it all together nicely. Might need to click on the image to really see those details.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you're having a great week...AND January is half over, *GASP*, seriously, how does that happen!?!

Hugs,

Hero Arts Poinsettia + ctd423

Hi friends! Hope you had a great weekend, it has been super cold here, think -16 degrees and such; yesterday we had wind gusts up to 30 mph with snow. Brrr!! And yes, we were out in these chilly temps multiple times - we're crazy. ;)

But today I found some time to create a little treat sack for my secret santa gift, the recipient LOVES pink...and it's even better when it's filled with treats, don't you agree?

I folded the bottom portion of the sack up and adhered with sticky tape along 3 sides, this created two small pockets - I LOVE making these! I used inspiration from ctd423 for my colors. The poinsettia was embossed with sparkle embossing powder on vellum and colored with Copics, the center of each layer is red feathering out to pink; the center is yellow, I added some yellow liquid pearls for a bit more dimension. The leaves were cut with MFT layered leaves dies from both vellum and Echo Park polka dot paper. I sponged the edges of the sack with Picked Raspberry.

Thanks for popping in; hope you have a great week!

A CASE for Color It In!

Welcome back - IT'S AUGUST 1ST...already, seriously - HOW. DOES. THAT. HAPPEN.???

We are back at a2z Scrapbooking with a new challenge - Color It In! I'm not sure mine really counts? But we're going to roll with it! Have you seen THIS video by Kelly? Yeah - this is a complete CASE (copy and share everything) - I adore what she did with the flowers from You're So Lovely! Her flowers were done in blue, mine are in purple - I RARELY ever create with purple, but I adored THIS tag card I did so I made a small version using the same stamp set but a different coloring method and no embossing (well, on the flowers at least). :D

SHIMMER/SPARKLE - swoon
I needed another thank you card for my boss and his wife so this is what I created - after I had it all done it was just plain, so I went back and added some black polka dots and I like the little addition - subtle but I think it looks nice. I did a close up photo of all the sparkle before I added the dots, but you can definitely see the shimmer.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you'll join us this month at a2z Scrapbooking for our Color It In challenge!
