MIUCB - Paper Piecing

Hi friends - how are you? I'm doing great!

This month at Mix It Up, we're focusing on paper piecing...a fave technique of mine and I'm so excited as the ENTIRE cupcake is paper pieced! I adore this Big and Bold Cupcake from Colorado Craft Company; I used various designer papers just hanging around in the studio. The frosting and cupcake are actually the exact same paper; I colored over the paper with brown copics for a chocolate cupcake. I added lots of shimmer to the frosting, black enamel for the strawberry seeds and coated it with glossy accents.

And can I just say - I would love some cupcake wrappers with those bicycles, aren't they just the cutest!?!

Thanks for stopping by; hope you will join us at Mix It Up this month!

MIUCB - Monochromatic

Hi friends - hope this post finds you doing well! I work full-time outside the home, we all returned to the office June 1 (53 employees at our main headquarters, 70 employees overall), we were wearing masks when we returned, then we weren't wearing masks, and now we're back to wearing masks. Do you work outside the home? If so, what's it like for you?

OK, back to business! This month at Mix It Up, we're focusing on monochromatic - this is another technique I never think to do; but wouldn't this card be awesome in purples, pinks, yellows - so many possibilities! The image is from The Greetery, Flower Market Bouquet; all the inks are from Taylored Expressions - LOVE. THEIR. INKS.

Once I stamped all the layers, I spritzed the entire panel with Sparkle Sheer Shimmer (say that 3 times fast, 😁), I wish I could capture the shimmer in a photo! I also dropped on some Mermaid Lagoon, then stamped the sentiment from Colorado Craft Company, Whimsy Fear Not.

Thanks for stopping by; I hope you will join us at Mix It Up, we love seeing your creations!

Big & Bold Cupcake - Pink Frosting

Hi - remember THIS card and I said I would stop back in and share the other one I made...here it is and I included a photo so you can see the shaped card.

Love this big and bold cupcake from Colorado Craft Company - can't wait to use it again! I used the die to make a shaped card and worked on my copic coloring. I added a couple layers of clear wink of stella glitter and some glossy accents.

I did a wrapper like this one other time; white with various sized pink polka dots - I LOVE polka dots!😍

Thanks for popping in; I appreciate your visit!

See you again soon!

Cupcake - good enough to eat!

Hi friends - hwo are you doing? I am doing really well...I have my 2nd major oral surgery next Friday, May 28; thankfully, it's Memorial Weekend so I'll have an extra day to recovery!

I ADORE this big and bold cupcake from Colorado Craft Company. I used the die to make a shaped card and I just love it. I used it to work on my copic coloring; I also did one with pink frosting - I'll share it later this week.

I colored the 'wrapper' in rainbow colors, made a chocolate cupcake and had tons of fun coloring the lemon wedge and berry. 😊

I added a couple layers of wink of stella clear glitter to the frosting and some glossy accents to the lemon and berry.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you will come back when I share the pink frosted cupcake.

See you again soon!

MIUCB #40 - anything goes + embossing

This month at Mix It Up, we're doing anything goes, or add embossing.

I had a BLAST making these mixed media cards; I used the Big and Bold Sweet Friends Cupcake, cut it in half to make two cards. I colored the cupcake with Copics then added those adorable pink polka dots to the 'wrapper' of the cupcake. For the base card, I embossed in white a sentiment from The Greetery, Pretty Postmarks, then applied texture paste through Simon's large polka dot stencil. Once dry, I blended on Worn Lipstick, Abandoned Coral, Picked Raspberry and Festive Berries (you will notice one is more pink (picked rasperry), one is more red (festive berries)). I flicked on some Festive Berries or Picked Raspberry, accordingly, and white guache, added the cupcake and finished with some PPP clear droplets

A Little - yet Big - Color Throwdown

I love Colorado Craft Company's Big and Bold stamp line, they have some gorgeous images! I also love inspiration from the Color Throwdown challenge blog; these two begged to be paired.

Now...am I happy with the outcome? Um...not so sure about that, but I'll tackle it again soon! I watercolored the image initially and REALLY didn't like that, so I finished it off with colored pencils and of course, some glossy accents for that scrumptious strawberry!

Hope your week is off to a great start, see you again soon!

Hugs,

Umbrella Girl

I colored this image in one of the previous Kathy Racoosin 30-day coloring challenges, but I had never found the perfect time to use it on a card...till now. Our youngest daughter, who is in college, had asked for a card quite some time ago (*gasp*) and I FINALLY found a unique opportunity to surprise her with a special card.

Since the image was already colored (love this set from Colorado Craft Company, and even though it's labeled as a 'sympathy' set; the image works great), I just needed to pull the card together; which happened pretty quickly. I love the added sentiments stickers, I keep these in my stash and typically use when doing a mixed media card. I added a super cute umbrella from PTI and sponged the edges with white - although nearly impossible to see in the photo - LOL!

The bottom third of the card is actually diagonal striped vellum although you can't see the stripes; I tied on some gray seam binding, added the stickers and then finished it off with glossy accents for the rain. Such a fun image!

Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a GREAT week ahead.

Hugs,
