Pockets full of sunshine!

Anyone else joining in Kathy's 30 day coloring challenge, you can see all the deets HERE. I love playing along when I can and oftentimes end up with lots of things colored that I later use on a card or tag or something. :D

I had this card kit from Gina K; there are several images I just LOVE in this kit; but when I saw the colors at Cupcake Inspirations - I LOVE FOOTBALL - I had to play along. Yes, I realize I don't have a football in here, but I have the beige/brown color going on and that counts in place of a football - HA! I just love the orange and teal combo and orange is a color I rarely use!

I stamped the outline images on some watercolor paper - no clue what brand, received in a Hero Arts monthly kit several months ago, sorry - and then used the rock and roll technique to stamp the matching images in various oxide inks. Once dry, I added more depth and dimension with Tombow Markers and Prismacolor Pencils (coloring those nooks and crannies as Kathy teaches). I die cut the images and then had these pocket cards - I've had them F O R E V E R!! I sponged the edges of the pocket and used a MFT tag die to cut the piece to slip inside. My thought was you could write a message on the back of the tag and on the back of the pocket if more room is needed. I used a couple different stencils for the tags; one I kept the fall colors - Antique Linen and Old Paper; the other I switched over and focused on the blue using Broken China. The sentiments were stamped in MFT's Dark Chocolate.

I adhered the images to the outside of the pocket; I can either add some hemp and tie these on to a fall colored gift bag in kraft, or rust, or orange; or just slip them inside a gift as is!

Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a GREAT week!

Hugs!

Party Time - CIC377

Hey friends - long time, no talk...and then BAM, I hit you with a load of projects. :D

This week, I'm honored to be the SURPRISE SWEETIE over at Cupcake Inspirations, they have such wonderful cupcake inspiration photos each week. The best part? They are calorie free! #winning

This week's sponsor is Gerda Steiner Designs; please be sure to pop over and check out their fabulous and fun products! AND don't forget to join in the challenge for your chance to win!

I just love the fun colors from the image so I made my own little colorful cupcake and incorporated the colors throughout the card. AND I was clearly in a doodling mood as I added lots.

I stamped this sweet cupcake from a retired MFT set, It's a Cupcake Kind of Day, masking off the cherry; I then stamped the image 3 more times on to various designer paper and paper pieced it all together. I embossed the green circle with a birthday embossing folder and added some white gel pen doodling. I cut the candle and flame using MFT's Birthday Candles die. I added a bit more doodling for sprinkles on the cupcake and finished off the frosting and flame with glossy accents; the rest is self explanatory with MORE doodling around the outside of the card base. Sprinkled on some enamel accents and we're good to go with a quick birthday card.

Thanks for stopping by; we can't wait to see YOUR creations at Cupcake Inspirations!

Hugs,

Verve Visual Beautiful Things + Cupcake Inspirations

I had a chance to 'play' this weekend and it was such fun! I was inspired by a photo of a card from a recent Simon Says Stamp (SSS) card kit; I decided to use the inspiration for this card, completely changing the colors. The smaller flowers are from the SSS Birthday Flower set and do not have outlines, but since the gorgeous flower from Verve does - I just drew my own outlines on the flowers and leaves! :D The leaves are from Hero Arts You're So Lovely set.

The gorgeous purple patterned paper was also in a recent SSS card kit, but you can find it sold separately here. I added a tiny black border and layered up all my flowers and leaves using Press N Seal to hold them as I applied glue, flipped them back over and applied.

I cut the 'thanks' from black card stock, added some versamark to the bottom and dipped it in chunky gold embossing powder and heat set.

Thanks for popping in; hope you are having a great week!

Hugs,

It's FRI-YAY!!

The weekend is HERE; are you ready? Any big plans? Anyone watching basketball - I LOVE March Madness and even though the tournament hasn't started yet; I still love watching all the tournaments leading up to Selection Sunday! #sportsaddict

I hope you've had a great week... It has taken me ALL WEEK to finish this card; I should have made a collage of all the gone wrong tries - HA! I saw an idea that was 2-sided designer paper where you fold the bottom back at the middle to create a little peek-a-boo area (triangle), but I didn't want to use 2-sided paper (note to self, you probably should have used 2-sided paper) but live and learn! I created a one layer piece instead with no designer paper; I masked off a triangle at the bottom and used MFT's Circle Burst stencil and sponged on Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick - then proceeded to cover up the center of the burst where the Spun Sugar was concentrated.

So yes, you see my issues? LOL That's okay; I still love the finished card and YES, I'm using the WPlus9 Doodle Buds set AGAIN! BUT notice anything different? What have I been whining about the last umpteen times I've used this set? THE DIES, I now own the dies - ahhh...sigh of contentment! And I used faux water color using Zig Clean Color Brushes again - throw down some color, add some water and let it dry then stamp away - love how easy it is. I added a bit of shading, lots of clear wink of stella and white polka dots. The blessed was cut from MFT gold card stock and layered with fun foam. I added a decorative inside with one more bloom I had left over. Perfect card for a dear friend!

Hope you have a great weekend; take care; hope to see you again soon!

December 25

Hi friends!

Hope you are having a great weekend!

I had a bit of time to craft today and loved the sketch at Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge (SSSC298 - layout below) so I set about making a Christmas card. Christmas is JUST AROUND THE CORNER - eeekkk...so not ready.
Smiley from Millan.Net

This card came together quickly - and I didn't even panic when my wink of stella pen decided to poop on my tag! HA! I made the best of it and created random wink of stella circles - see them in that close up photo? YES - happy, happy!

The focal point is Memory Box's Distress Tag; I sponged a ton of ink on it - Old Paper, Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy and Pumice Stone; stamped the image in Memento Rich Cocoa. To add a bit more interested, I sponged on Fired Brick using the Dots and Lines stencil by Simon Says Stamp; I wanted to add some sparkle to the #'s which was great...till I saw the big ole blob by the 5; like I said, what's a girl to do? Embellish with more blobs and I like them!

The Cupcake Inspiration today was snowflakes so I thought they were the perfect touch for the base layer, added some DP from a couple different packs of My Mind's Eye, added a big ole button and a double-loop bow of hemp cord.

Thanks for popping in - hope you have a great week!

Cupcake Inspirations 328 - Surprise Sweetie

Oh my goodness, aren't the colors for this weeks inspiration at Cupcake Inspirations just divine (see below)? And polka dots? Be still my beating heart! :D AND I'm the Surprise Sweetie, I loved working with this inspiration photo, such great colors!!

I created a jam packed card, channeling Laurie (HERE) for inspiration! The Scribble Roses were covered in two coats of wink of stella; the background is Bo Bunny's Sugar Glitter colored with Twisted Citron - can you see the sparkle?

I added a vellum doily to allow the roses and leaves to stand out a bit more, some soft silver thread and black/white washi tape were the finishing touches. The hello d-lites from Spellbinders was cut 5 times from black card stock, adhered together and coated with glossy accents (it's my interpretation of a worm - ha, it's all curly!!).

Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a great week!

Lean closer...I have "s'more" to tell you!

:D

This week at Crafts 4 Eternity we are focusing on Back to School! Michele of Crafts 4 Eternity is sponsoring us with YOUR chance to win 3 digital images and boy does she have some good 'uns! That was my midwest accent coming through - LOL!

I no longer have children in elementary school - PRAISE THE LORD - but I'm sure you understand, it means my children have aged...I have not, please DO NOT make the mistake and assume I have - HA!

I made "s'more" cookies - without the fire since I was crafting in my basement, but seriously, aren't they adorable? I got the idea HERE. I put each cookie in its own cellophane bag then added various school themed toppers. Super simple and quick as I was making quite a few!

Then I made a couple notepads, I'm going to deliver all this to the 2 secretaries at the middle school - I bet they'll love a little treat! The notepads were inspired by Debbie Olson, HERE.

Hope you'll join along this week; it's a GREAT theme!
