Love to Scrap Challenge Blog

Hello, friends! I hope you are well!

Thanks for joining us on the Love to Scrap Challenge Blog!

This is the card I made our youngest daughter for her birthday. Both my girls like coffee, and this daughter likes PINK, so there is LOTS of pink on this one. 😉 I have really enjoyed seeking color inspiration from Pinterest, and this is no exception. When you see the inspiration, you'll understand the blue in the background. 😃 I used new cardstock from Concord and 9th, my first time using their cardstock and I really like it! Lots of pink options that all go together well, I appreciate that!

I die cut all the pieces and more from the Cup of Kindness set. I made a card similar to this, HERE, and used the same background (Spellbinder's Candy Stipes die, not sure it's available any longer, sorry), I loved it so much!

I die cut the lid components and wrapper from white and added some shading. I also added shading to the flowers and leaves and have tons left over for another card in the future. The other cup has a heart swirl stencil in white, then shifted slightly and blended in a bright pink.

The heart on the 'floral' cup was embossed with Spellbinder's Tufted 3D embossing folder. Then I lightly swiped white ink over the top before adding glossy accents.

A bit of blue in the background to go along with the color inspiration photo, finished it off with some silver half back pearls. They really added the perfect touch!

Trying to capture the dimension - hopefully you can see it!

Can't wait to see what you create for Love to Scrap; we enjoy seeing your creations!

Some-BUNNY Loves You

Hi friends, how ya doing?

If you follow me on Snapchat (whimsycreation) or Instagram (whimsical_creations), you will notice this as being a much more involved version of the treat boxes I made for the Ronald McDonald Children's Home (RMCH). I made 10 of these with only the bunny peeking out to take to the RMCH; I filled the boxes with green and pink faux grass, then added as much candy as I could pack in to each one. I also took the leftover candy to RMCH, I hope the families were able to enjoy the items!

All die cuts are from Pretty Pink Posh (bunny products and treat box)- goodness, I so love their products!

Anywho, as I was cutting the boxes for RMCH, I cut 2 extras to create little care packages for a couple dear friends. One's favorite color(s) is black and white; I didn't know the other's favorite color, so I did a light lilac.

Before I die cut the boxes, I used the Spellbinder's Tufted 3D Embossing Folder to emboss the full panel. I embossed, die cut, then embossed again to help with any embossing that was somewhat flattened during the die cutting process.

Once complete, I highlighted the black box with white pigment ink and the lilac box with a dark purple ink. All inks, except the white pigment ink, are from Simon Says Stamp pawsitively ink. I adhered the boxes together with double-sided tape to make sure they were strongly secured. I then die cut and shaded lots of elements from the Easter Mugs Addition and Big Easter Cupcake dies; the bunny is from the  Bunny Face Shaker dies. The inside of the bunny ears were cut from white card stock and some were cut from a light grey card stock, shading was added with pink Copics.

Oh, I almost forgot, I purchased the grass border die, also from Pretty Pink Posh. I die cut it from a couple different shades of green card stock and also added shading. I was able to create two rows of grass from one die cut.

Thanks for HOPPING by, I hope this gives you some inspiration!

Love to Scrap Challenge Blog - May 2024

Hey friends, thanks for stopping by!

This round at Love to Scrap, I used this insanely fun Cup of Kindness stamp and die set from Concord and 9th! I die cut 2 of the large cups, 'wrappers', and lids for the cups. Before putting the cups together, I used a couple stencils to accent the base of the cups. For the pink cup I used the sketched lines from the PTI A Little Sketchy set; for the aqua cup, I used SSS XL Rose Bouquet (all inks from Taylored Expressions).

The background is a, new to me, die set, Spellbinders Candy Stripes, in which I die cut two pieces and flipped one over to create the criss-cross pattern. I lightly blended some blue on the background before adhering everything together.

I love how this turned out, the colors are so happy and if you're a coffee lover like me, it speaks to your heart!  😂

MIUCB - Anything Goes + Optional Stamping (no digis)

Hi friends - how are you? I'm doing good, I have been creating up a storm, but not the best at sharing. But I'm back this month with a card I had so much fun creating!

Hopefully you will join us at Mix It Up this month, stop by and check out the fun creations the design team made.

I created this card for our son's birthday this year, I love this stencil from Pinkfresh Studios; I need to dig it out and use it again, I think for Christmas will be fun! His favorite color is orange, so I dug out lots of orange inks from Taylored Expressions. For the last swirl, I used deco foil duo gel, allowed it to dry and used a rainbow foil - it looks so cool IRL!

I stamped the ice cream scoops and cone on colored cardstock, die cut, and added some copic shading. The candles come from THIS set. I added some shading to the flames, some clear glitter and glossy accents. Tied a twin bow and tag onto one of the candles. I embossed a sentiment, added a little heart and it was good to go.

He turned 23, so I created 2 candles and 3 ice cream scoops. 😀

Thanks again for stopping by; hope you can join us this month at Mix It Up!

Love to Scrap Challenge Blog - the gang is back!

Hi friends! I am so excited to announce the design team is B-A-C-K at Love to Scrap! It's always Anything Goes and we love seeing your creations!

This month, I'm sharing a Christmas card I created - sadly, I created it a few months ago, so let's see if I can test this 'older' memory and remember how I created it. 😁

The floral stamp in the background is Hope from Concord & 9th; I think it may be retired, but found it elsewhere. I used watercolor paper, spritzed the base image before stamping and then added the other layers full strength.

I also stamped this Tim Holtz ledger stamp in multiple places. I added lots of sponging then tapped on some white gouache and Crankling Campfire distress spray. Finished it off with washi tape, an embossed sentiment on vellum, and lots of Doodlebug sprinkles.

The sentiment and die cut are from Honey Bee, Fa La La (retired).

Thanks for popping in; hope to see you again soon!

Hello, old friend!

Hey - I remember you, do you remember me? 😁

I won't get into the details but on December 31 the lovely Covid finally found me and beat the living shizzz out of me! I was sick for an entire month; I FINALLY turned the corner January 31. Once I was getting well, the fatigue was brutal; I would go to bed as early as 7:30 pm some nights. It was rough; I hope anyone else that gets it, has a MUCH easier time than I did.

Therefore, I have not been creating BUT I did set some creative goals this year and I want to try to complete them. One was a birthday card for our son, our youngest baby turned 22 this year - MY FAVORITE NUMBER!! But goodness, I feel old!!

His fave color is orange and has been since he was itty bitty, so I made sure to make his card about as orange as possible! I used some new products from Concord & 9th (links below), several Distress Oxide inks. He might eat orange sherbet for ice cream, but it's not his first choice - but seriously, how could I choose anything else? 😃 Some stripes of various orange card stock (Taylored Expressions, TE), brown splatters, glossy accents ,candy corn glitter (TE), and that's it.

BTW, he loved it! 💯 Thanks for popping in; here's hoping you are doing well!

Amazing!

Does it happen to you? You stamp something and it just DOES. NOT. WORK.

I had set this image aside months ago and decided to pull it out and just play with my Copics, no constraints, doesn't have to be 'perfect; - just HAVE FUN! And what do you know; I kept working at it and I really ended up liking it! The image is stamped in a gray ink so the striped paper is actually a dark gray too. I added lots of colorful and jewel Nuvo drops to finish it off.

The 'amazing' was cut 4 times from Steel Grey cardstock with the final layer being the colored image...and check that out, I didn't lose any of the tiny pieces! YES, we should all take a minute and celebrate that feat - it's a big 'un for me!

HOPE...you know you're great!

Hi friends! Hope you had a good weekend and your week is off to a great start! I found some time this weekend to play along with the Color Throwdown challenge (picture below, ctd455); such fun summery colors!

I wanted to try no line watercoloring BUT that didn't quite go as planned. :( #fail

But that's okay; I'll try again soon with a different ink. Mine ended up not really fading out, but I used pencils to outline and add some shading after water coloring the image with Zig Clean Color Brushes - used them to do some outlining too - so lots of different mediums used on this one! I added the dots wth a stencil and faded it out towards the top; once I was completely done - even after 'flinging' on some watered down gold paint, I decided to add the word HOPE and the additional sentiment inside, 'you know you're great'. I added some pattern paper to the inside, actually mixing and matching from totally different paper packs.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a great day!

Hugs!

CTD429 + Concord & 9th Hello Lovely

Hi friends - happy, happy weekend. Hope you are enjoying yourself this weekend!

Sometimes you just have to take a break and make something for fun and this card was my FOR FUN card using inspiration from Color Throwdown 429! I rarely ever create with orange; but I wanted to do messy watercoloring - I mean messy; no pulling out a brush; just have to accept what happens when you lay down some color and spray. :D

I embossed this gorgeous, and new to me, Concord and 9th Hello Lovely floral image on Ranger water color paper and embossed with Hero Arts white. I then used my Zig Clean Color Brushes to put down two colors of orange - one color for the focal flower, a lighter color for the smaller flowers; then sprayed with water and let it run! I did hit it with my heat gun. I then did the same for the leaves, two colors of aqua blue and again, spritzed with water and let them run, then dry. I added more color to the focal flower and spritzed one more time. Once completely dry, I fussy cut the image and ran a black marker around all the edges and spritzed with shimmer mist.

The base layer was inspiration taken from Amy Kolling, but my background was made using MFT's water color stripes. Hard to tell, but I did cut out the middle section and pop it up using fun foam, added a little HELLO banner flag and some sequins to finish off. The inside? Seriously, LOOK at the sparkly aqua washi tape, isn't it gorgeous? Black and white washi tape finish off the inside; added 3 different washi tapes to the envie as well as a strip of the aqua sparkle on the flap of the envie. LOVE! Thanks for stopping by!

Hugs,

Kind & Thoughtful

I recently saw some cards made by Dawn McVey in which she used gold paint, I thought they were beautiful. So recently while out shopping with our son for a school project, I picked up a small bottle of gold paint - maybe Folk Art brand? Nothing expensive by any means. I proceeded to paint one piece of card stock with broad strokes, the other I actually stamped with the gold paint using PTI's Polka Dot basics. I allowed both to dry naturally.

For the polka dot card, I used Hero Arts ombre ink to stamp the Concord and 9th "kind" sentiment and die cut; I layered this and a strip of vellum over a piece of floral chip board I have had F-O-R-E-V-E-R - yep; it's true! ;) I added lots of Shine Bright sequins from Verve Visual to finish it up.

For the pink card, I cut a heart out of the center of the gold piece and backed it with designer paper from MFT. I die cut the "thoughtful" from vellum and adhered across the heart; the "that's you" was white embossed on black card stock, I cut a few flags and finished it off with more Shine Bright sequins.

Thanks for popping in; hope you have a GREAT day!
