Father's Day 2010

Hi friends! SUPER quick/short post tonight; we got to bed shortly after 1 a.m. last night after our little man's baseball game that finished at midnight. They are playing again tonight at 9:45 p.m., but I skipped it...daddy went. WOW - I am old...I am exhausted! LOL

These are a couple Father's Day cards I made this year; the first is a pre-colored digital image from Fred She Said; if you've never checked out their store - you should; they have some incredible images!! I added some shading and silver shine to the truck; sponged the edges with PTI's vintage cream and put it all together using MME's Quite Contrary DP.

The next card uses the Noble Deer set from Stampin' Up!; I stamped the deer onto glossy paper then brayered the sunset and ground area. I punched small notches in either side and wrapped the hemp around 3 times before securing it beneath the 2 buttons. Buttons are 'from the stash'. LOL - yeah, YOU have one of those stashes too huh?

That's about it; thanks for popping in friends. Thursday and Friday are going t be really long days at work; therefore I'm headed to bed early tonight! Hope you have a great one; hugs, ~M.

Let It Snow!

Oh my - have your temperatures been HOT, HOT, HOT?

Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net

Oh, it's been so hot here so I really like the thought of this card! LET IT SNOW! Ok, maybe no snow, but I'll take some cooler temperatures! This is a digital image from The Stamping Boutique - I just *heart* this little guy holding his sign! Isn't he so jolly looking and how 'bout those big ole shoes...keeps his little toesies warm. HA!

Think of all the messages you could put on the sign! The DP is from Basic Grey's Eskimo Kisses paper pack; I colored him up with Copics to match the non-traditional Christmas colors I chose.

Go ahead, just stop and relax for a moment and imagine some nice cool(er) temperatures! :D

Hope you have a great weekend; thanks for stopping by to see me. I truly appreciate when you take the time to pop in!! Hugs, ~M.

Sew, Sew, Sew we go!

It's time for another super fun blog hop with The Stamping Boutique - won't you join the fun? As you probably guessed, the theme is sewing and we have 3 different images to show you. I am working with Cynthia - she's making some new wings! And look, she is so prepped - thread, pin cushion, a beautiful mannequin to help mold her creation - JUST LIKE PROJECT RUNWAY! Anyone watch that show?

Hopefully you found your way to me from Lisa's blog; if not, start at the very beginning - Kym's blog; you don't want to miss ANY of these amazing creations!

I used this super cool Cynthia image and went to town paper piecing her! I paper pieced the dress she is wearing, the mannequin which holds her wings (and she's making a matching dress - LOL); and the pin cushion.

:D

Seriously, doesn't that pin cushion look just like the tomato one you can by with felt on the top?

The layout is Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #74; simple, yet fabulous layout! Next up on the blog hop is the amazing Robin! Thanks for joining along our blog hop journey today; hope you have a great day! Hugs, ~M.

SOTW - Land of the Free

What perfect timing for this week's Stamp of the Week from Repeat Impressions! July 4th (USA) is just around the corner and I am so thankful for the many men and women who serve and have served our country...and for those that lost your life defending our freedom - I thank you and celebrate you!!!

Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net

YOU can purchase this same stamp for 50% off this week - what an incredible deal; just in time to make some special cards for that special someone in your life! Visit The House That Stamps Built to get all the details of how you can purchase this stamp at 50% off.

A co-worker's son is at boot camp right now, so I created this with him in mind. Tried something new with this card too - paint! Julee Tilman did it on one of her cards recently and it literally took my breath away. I used it a bit differently, but still really like the way it turned out!

The white later and small oblong blue layer are both distressed on all edges. I embossed the blue layer with several different images - two stars from PTI's All Star Team, the polka dot star from PTI's anniversary set a year ago and the round star image is from All Star Team Additions.

I tore the red and blue papers, but didn't "worry" if they aligned or were just the right size. Ah...stepping out of my clean and straight lines. LOL I painted the blue layer with white paint and let it dry - just took a couple of minutes. Then I stamped the "Land of the Free" image with Versamark ink and dumped on some dark blue embossing powder. LOVE the way it looks. The blue paper is Bazzill so it's not a smooth surface to begin with. I smudged both the blue and red layer with Black Soot Distress ink, I think I'm really going to like the Black Soot ink. I just bought it this week!

I stamped and embossed the circle star image and punched out with a 1 1/4" circle punch. The main layers and round image were both mounted with dimensionals.

The lines on the white paper were made using a template and sponging on the red...again, I didn't worry about the lines being "perfect" in color. For the inside, I distressed a white panel, created two score lines at the bottom, stamped a row of stars & polka dots from All Star Team Additions in SU! Really Red, and "Be Your Best" in SU! Night of Navy.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to visit The House That Stamps Built to see what great deals Wendy has going on!! And don't forget to visit the DT members; they have some A-M-A-Z-I-N-G creations to share with you!

Have a great week; hugs, ~M.

RI Paperweights

Pssssttt....scroll down to see my Card Patterns blog - Sketch #69!

I have had so much fun lately - I've made a couple of paper weights - they are SO EASY! These are from PhotoWeights, their round version. For this first one, I was just playing around, seeing how it all goes together, but I love how it turned out. Wish I would have had a stamp that said "relax" that would have fit!

Both paperweights were made with images from Repeat Impressions. For the Adirondack Chair, I used a post it note to create the uneven line and sponged on various inks to create sand; then I sponged on blues for the soft evening sky. I even created a moon and its reflection in the upper right-hand corner. I just love how this turned out.

I just used the one layer for this paperweight, but on the next one, I actually layered the image onto Summer Sunrise card stock to really help the colors "pop" off the paper. The edges of each image were rolled in glitter - if you look REALLY close, you can see the glitter within the Adirondack Chair paperweight...right along the bottom edge.

I showed a friend this first paper weight and she asked if I would make one for her best friend who loves Sunflowers. Pretty appropriate flower to love here in Kansas! :D

I took several photos of this next one as I wanted you to see the before image and the image within the paperweight as well as the back of the paperweight. It's lined with felt, so it won't scratch a thing!!

I stamped the Sunflower on cream card stock and colored with Copics. I then sponged around the edges and decided the little sunflower needed some sparkle so I added gunmetal Stickles, but kind of painted them on so the glitter would spread out. Doesn't it look cool?

These are really quick to make and quite addictive. I've been told her friend loved the paperweight; and I now have a couple more requests, so don't be surprised if you see more of these in the future! GREAT gifts for teachers too I think.

And don't forget, if you haven't registered to win the BLOG CANDY - check it out HERE!!

Hope you have a great weekend; thanks for stopping by! Hugs, ~M.

Card Patterns - Sketch 69

Today I'm participating in the Sketch Challenge for the Card Patterns Blog using a cute little image from The Stamping Boutique. I received a couple new spica glitter pens this week - my clear one was totally empty, so I was thrilled to receive my new one and just HAD to make these hearts all glittery...they NEEDED it! LOL

I printed the image on GKD 80 lb. layering card stock and colored with Copics. The DP is from Basic Grey's Bittersweet collection - one of my all-time favorite collections; don't have much left of it either!

Each square was faux stitched with SU's! Chocolate Chip marker and edged with PTI's Chamomile vintage touch ink. I added 3 baubles to each corner.

I so enjoyed coloring this wagon full of hearts, such a fun image!

Thanks for stopping by; hope you'll give the sketch a whirl, we'd love to see what you create!

Oh...and before I forget, our youngest daughter chose to participate in the Children's Challenge Corner, this pink card is hers. Nice work Kaity-bug!!

Hugs, ~M.

Blessings Abound!

I HAVE INTERNET...yes, that's me yelling and doing the happy dance!! I have been without Internet for 5 days - 5 long, miserable days.

Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net

It has been painful for our children too; they love listening to music, designing and playing games on their laptops.

So, to celebrate this fine occasion, I'm taking a few minutes to post a card I made recently! This was a birthday card for one of our co-workers who loves _________, can you guess? HA!

I wanted to use Taylor's sketch, but I didn't get it printed before our Internet went down and then I couldn't get to it any longer...see? Painful! You can see I missed a few pieces of the layout; but not too bad working from an old memory! I really had a great time creating this card; I used the Cuttlebug embossing folder, Tiny Mosaic, but used the reverse side of the image I embossed to resemble the dimples in a golf ball.

I mounted a 2nd golf ball for great 3D dimension and colored the lower portion of the golf ball with a light grey. The "tee" is only partially shown in the main image, so I stamped it 3 times and drew in the remaining portion of the tee to make the 3 on the right-hand side. I am so far from an artist it's not funny; but I colored them in, added a layer of Glossy Accents and really thought they turned out cute!

Thanks for stopping by; I'm soooooo tickled to have Internet again!!

Hope to see you again soon; hugs, ~M.

Don't forget - still looking for a WHIMSICAL WINNER!

SOTW - Repeat Impressions Fairy Fun

Hello friends, it's MONDAY again! I took a day of vacation today - we have 7 doctor's appointments and 2 baseball games tonight - YIKES...insanity rules here ya know!

It's time for another Stamp of the Week from Repeat Impressions - this one is another Garden Fairy, the other Garden Fairy I used can be found HERE, aren't they just so cute?

These colors are so out of my norm, but it was still fun to pull together. I used Basic Grey's Green at Heart papers and went from there. Added some PTI Summer Sunrise & New Leaf.

The little fairies wings have sparkle as do the dragonfly's...just hard to see within the pictures. Very pretty IRL. I even added stitching ...it's okay, breathe deep. HA! I love to add stitching, but it just never looks great to me.

I added a sentiment inside which says "just soaring by to say hi"; how perfect is that?

Now, want to know how YOU can purch
ase this stamp for 50% off? Just visit Repeat Impression's blog "The House That Stamps Built" and catch all the deets! And while you're there, don't forget to check out the sketch and play along - YOU could win a $25 gift certificate to Repeat Impressions. Ooo....laa....laaa - we love free!!
