LTSCB #137 - Anything Goes

HELLO September; UNBELIEVABLE, this has been the craziest year, yes? Hope you will join us at Love to Scrap this month - it's Anything Goes, so enter all your creations!!

I decided to get colorful and I forgot how much I love this set from WPlus9 (Flock Yeah) till I pulled it out and paired it with some really vibrant colors! #amiright

I created a couple really colorful backgrounds (the other card I will share soon), and used various images from Flock Yeah and Tropic Fever (seems to be sold out, but I did use the matching dies). Images were colored with Copics and ahdered to the background and trellis die cut from white card stock. I created a black flag and embossed the forever funny sentiment and added some white gel pen faux stitching.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you will join us at Love to Scrap and submit your creations, we always enjoy seeing them!

Take care, stay safe!

MIUCB #41 - Anything Goes + Foiling

Hi friends!!

Join us this month at Mix It Up for Anything Goes and/or Foiling! I lost my mojo somewhere, but I did have a few foiled backgrounds in my stash...but I just couldn't figure out what to do with them, like seriously, I've had 3 foiled backgrounds hanging around for several months! 😕

I used the Transfer Gel Duo through the Brick by Brick stencil from Taylored Expressions in random spots, let it dry completely, and applied foil using a laminator. For this card, I used the Pine BlossomSimple Things and Signed and Sealed with a Kiss from The Greetery. Some of the florals were stamped and in my stash, the ones that weren't were quickly stamped, die cut and assembled on the card.

And let me be really honest for a minute...I finished this up and went to bed thinking 'I really do not like that card'; come on peeps - do you have these conversations in your head too? But the next morning, it looked a wee bit better to me; I love the ephemera I found, 'there is sunshine in my soul today'; I know the perfect person to send this to! Not every card turns out to your liking and that's just the way creating goes.

Here's hoping you find some time to create in September and join us at Mix it Up!!

Take care, stay safe!

Emma and the Snowball!

 Hi friends!

After some craziness with Covid (daughter thinking she had it, thank goodness she was negative; but then the following week, a co-worker tested positive), I am finally back with a post for Colour Crazy Challenge! And just in time to celebrate with Fred She Said using Emma and the Snowball.

I think this image would be PERFECT for creating lots of holiday tags in all different colors. I enjoyed coloring Emma with Copics, then added lots of details with a white gel pen and sharpie. I embossed a sentiment and the edges of the tag with a sentiment and Brutus Monroe rainbow embossing powder - but it really doesn't show up. 😒 I added some texture paste, let it dry and sponged on some ink; I added another tag on the back side to contain a holiday message; finished it off with this velvet ribbon and some bells.

Thanks for stopping by; I hope you'll join our challenge with your project featuring coloring, that's the only requirement!

Take care and stay safe!

Hugs,

Water coloring through a stencil

Hi friends - how are you doing? I'm doing great - in this odd space of working from home, but also in the office a few days each week. Our office is currently doing a rotational schedule, but my role falls outside of the rotation, so I'm there a bit more random. AND the best part is I am very isoldated where my desk is, so I feel pretty safe being there.

Anywho, a couple of months ago, Amber with Altenew posted a video of water coloring through a stencil; so I gave it a try. I wanted to make a card for a very dear friend going through a dark time. I used Simon's Bouquet of Roses stencil to try the same thing. Once I water colored through the stencil and removed it, I wasn't thrilled. I added some colored pencil which I liked on the flowers, but really disliked on the leaves, LOL - so hard to please! I added some drops of Mermaid Lagoon Distress Spray and set it aside to dry.

I cut a circle off the edge of Neenah 110 lb card stock and blended through the SSS extra large dot stencil with Broken China distress ink. I stamped the Penny Black Faith sentiment, breaking it up between the cover panel and the inside. Finished it off with several Studio Katia wedding bells sequins.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you are doing great!

Hugs,

For the Kids - LTSCB #136

Hi friends - how about these incredibly crazy times we live in!?! First, we had our daughter show symptoms of Covid (thankfully her results were negative); then we had a co-worker test positive late July (mad scramble to disinfect the office, notify  exposed team members, etc.); C-R-A-Z-Y!! 😟 I hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy!!

This month at Love to Scrap we are creating For the Kids! I don't have littles any longer, BUT I think this card would be so sweet for a little to send to someone they love!! I love this girl from Penny Black, she makes me giggle! I colored the image with Copics then used scraps to paper piece her dress and sash. The sentiment is from a Verve Visual set (no longer available).

Thanks for popping in; hope you will join the fun and create something to share with us - we always love seeing your creations!!

Hugs,

MIUCB #40 - anything goes + embossing

This month at Mix It Up, we're doing anything goes, or add embossing.

I had a BLAST making these mixed media cards; I used the Big and Bold Sweet Friends Cupcake, cut it in half to make two cards. I colored the cupcake with Copics then added those adorable pink polka dots to the 'wrapper' of the cupcake. For the base card, I embossed in white a sentiment from The Greetery, Pretty Postmarks, then applied texture paste through Simon's large polka dot stencil. Once dry, I blended on Worn Lipstick, Abandoned Coral, Picked Raspberry and Festive Berries (you will notice one is more pink (picked rasperry), one is more red (festive berries)). I flicked on some Festive Berries or Picked Raspberry, accordingly, and white guache, added the cupcake and finished with some PPP clear droplets

Altenew Inspiration - July 2020

Sometimes life feels a bit out of control, #reallifetalk! Our oldest was tested for Covid July 10; the interesting thing was, the day after she wasn't feeling well, I awoke with some of the exact same symptoms. 😲 We finally received the results today, July 16 and they were NEGATIVE. PTL!!

I have been quarantined and working from home since July 9; you think that would give me MORE time to create, but that certainly hasn't been the case. I have had very little time to create or even get in my studio. However, I was super inspired by Altenew's inspiration photo this week and late one evening, I ventured to my craft room for a mental break - those are the best. 😀

I embossed one of the Forever and Always stamps with white on water color paper. Once melted, I added several colors of distress oxide inks with a wide brush and heat set. Once dry, I spritzed with Sheer Shimmer mist and splattered on some white guache. I then created a white frame using MFT Blueprints and a MFT square die. I used one of the sentiments, stamped in oxide ink. I then used the SSS Square Dance stencil with some Tattered Rose oxide ink, mounted the main panel with fun foam and finished it off with Studio Katia sequins.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you are safe and healthy!

Hello - Love You Lots

Hello - how are you doing? Still feels like crazy times; I read a note today that quoted Dr. Fauci as saying the coronavirus was his worst nightmare and it's not over yet - YIKES! It indicated since 're-opening' things, 21 states have had a spike in cases, so scary!

But I'm glad you stopped by, nothing scarey here! 😉

This month at Love to Scrap, it's everyone's favorite - ANYTHING GOES, I hope you will take some time to join us!

I die cut and watercolored several of these Roses and Foilage from The Greetery and these were a handful I had left over from another project. Once adhered together, I added white splatters, then glue and sprinkled on some chunky glitter (idea taken from Kelly Lunceford; BTW, she makes me buy things ALL. THE. TIME. - LOL). I die cut two of the Nordic Frames to layer my florals onto. I then cut multiple hellos (TSM Stacked Hello) from Neenah 110 lb. card stock, lightly sponged the top layer with TE Cupcake ink then added some duo deco foil to the bottom half of the top hello, let it dry and adhered gold foil. The Love You Lots comes from Mama Elephant Organic Blooms.

Take some time, create, relax and then join the fun at Love to Scrap!!

Mix It Up #39 - Anything Goes + Open Technique

This is always a fun challenge - open technique/anything goes - try any technique, new or old! I hope you will join us!

I did two cards with the direct ink to paper technique, only showing one here - I'll be back with the other one soon!

After swiping several inks directly on the paper they felt a bit too bright, so I then swiped randomly with Hero Arts white ink and love how it turned out! I then cut the panel with a scalloped die.

I white heat embossed on vellum this beautiful floral image from SSS, fussy cut and attached to the card. I then added several sequins and stamped the 'hello' from Taylored Expressions in the lower left-hand corner in Gina K obsidian black ink.

Super clean and simple card, but oh so colorful!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you will join us at Mix It Up this month!

Copic Blending-Free inspired by Yana Smakula

Have you seen Yana's recent videos, HERE and HERE? I am so inspired by this abstract coloring; this was my first try and I love the results. I have watched Yana's videos again and see some things I can change for next time. I chose my colors based on the Altenew June 2020 Inspiration Challenge and the most recent video by Amber.

I stamped the same image on the background using TE Sea Salt (I wish now I wouuld have used a light tan color), stamping the main image for coloring in Gina K obsidian ink. I chose Copic colors that could be blended, but that's not the purpose in abstract coloring. It was super quick to color this way too! I added some sequins and several glossy accent dots to finish it off.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a great week ahead!!

Hugs,
