Bon Voyage

Although I no longer (currently) design for Cupcake Inspirations doesn't mean I won't participate in their challenges - particularly when the cupcake image and colors are DIVINE such as this week!

Check out this cupcake image:
And the sponsor? Taylored Expressions - FANTASTIC company!

A dear friend has started a travel company out of her home - helping families, couples, singles - anyone put together fabulous cruise packages and before they depart, she gives them a little gift and asked me to make some cards so this is what I came up with!

Lots of waves, cruise ship, clouds, sunshine and on the inside? A palm tree - looks like a grand trip to me!

Set of 5 cards

I spy a palm tree! :D

Enjoy and thanks for popping in!

Teachers Gifts - 2013

Our last babe has finished elementary school - WHOOP, WHOOP; I have LOVED when each of our babes have completed this phase of schooling! Middle school and high school have been such great opportunities for the other two, I expect the same things for one!

This year I went ultra easy on the teachers gifts - but it counts right? :D

I bought 2 insulated cups and filled them halfway with Hershey's kisses then included 4 single serve Hawaiian Punch servings. I couldn't just send them filled with goodies, so I created little tags and hung them from the straw of each cup. Simple yet I thought they turned out super cute. Jared wrote his message on the bag of the tag.

The tag is from Memory Box - Distressed Tag cut out of Kraft card stock and stamped with the  matching stamp. I then layered on a distressed doily, cut 3 layers of the flower using PTI's Beautiful Blooms II dies out of Imaginisce paper - I've had this paper for ages! :-/ The flower was also distressed before gluing together. I finished the tag with some MME enamel dots...seriously love!

Thanks for stopping by; have a great weekend! Our youngest daughter - volleyball player/enthusiast  - and I have been attending the Men's FIVB World League games for USA vs. Argentina - here in our little city! She "might possibly" be seriously in love with this player - he's 6' 10"; the first picture I took in which they were standing on the SAME STEP was absolutely hysterical, the 2nd picture we asked him to remain seated and she sat next to him - that picture is below.

PS - his name is Matt Anderson, he and several of the other World League players played in the Olympics in 2012. :D She's a happy happy happy girl!!

Hello - have we met?

Gosh - life has just been a whirlwind lately - why is it the end of the school year is just SO. DARN. BUSY!!! And I have been very absent from my blog - hence the title. tee hee

I haven't mentioned for quite some time, but I am still going to physical therapy - just last week I was released from two times per week to one time, but I hate to report that it will not stay that way; I am in so much pain... :( As a reminder, surgery was February 13!!

I truly think a big piece may be my desk at work; I spend 10-11 hours at a computer - not good. I had 4 days off from the office - one of those days I worked at home, the others were the weekend and a holiday - when I returned from those 4 days my pain was so much better...now after being back to work for a solid week, I'm pretty miserable. :(

Anyway, I have been creating when my arm permits; so here's a card I made recently - I used a sketch, but don't remember from where - oops!

Papers are My Mind's Eye - of course - the brad has been in my stash for ages!! Lots of stitching  some old paper distress ink and lots of layering. The sentiment is from Verve Visual and is actually all one piece (what you see on the outside and the inside of the card); I masked off the various areas with scotch tape so I could use it on the outside cover with the remainder on the inside. The lower left corner is the envelope with a couple matching flags.

Inside and envie

Thanks for popping in; take care!

Jeremiah 29:11

A very dear friend recently started dating someone and needed a birthday card - masculine cards are oftentimes very hard, no matter the occasion!

I actually dug out some Halloween papers - not that you would ever know; paired them with a pop of color - red and let the sentiment and frame do the talking. I colored the outside border of the frame with grey Copics, then used my colorless blender to remove color in the center on all 4 sides and fade the color a bit. Added just a hint of red at the corners and finished it off with some red/white twine.

TFL; hope you've had a great weekend!

It started with a kiss...

Love this little stamp set from Papertreyink - Just a Kiss - isn't the sentiment adorable? There are just a handful of sentiments in the set but they are just PERFECT for engagements, anniversaries, weddings, etc. This particular card was created for a bachelorette party.

Layout is Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 184; I added LOTS of stitching and LOTS of distressing with Memento Rich Cocoa. See the little flag? I used the same paper on the bottom half of the circle, but I distressed it with the Cocoa ink then applied a light coat of clear Wink of Stella - I LOVE THAT STUFF; I'm going to marry it - LOL!!

Inside
The sparkle is just incredible IRL and I've only tried the clear pen so far! I added espresso dimensional pearls around the scalloped circle also.
Covered with Wink of Stella clear glitter pen
Thanks for stopping by; hope you're having a great week!

Crafty Creations 221 - Something Old / Something New

Hello friends!

This week over at Crafty Creations, we're creating with Something Old / Something New. I could go for days about things that are "old" or "unused"...a/k/a hoarder of designer paper - BUT alas, i found a few other things for my creation that were old...and a couple new ones too! I also used an old paperback book for the flower and that gem in the center? Um...yeah, I've had it for a long, long time - thrilled to use it...finally!

The layout is Mojo Monday #292; and for my new items, I used MFT's Gift Card Greetings stamp set along with the vertical gift card die - swoon! I colored in the "you" with a Copic and then covered the letters with glossy accents. All the papers, gift card holder as well as the die on the inside were edged with Frayed Burlap distress ink. The notebook die is from PTI and I added the A+ with a red Spica glitter pen; vellum for the border with some fabby chocolate ribbon ..that I totally covered up - oops! LOL
The inside has more DP with a die from Verve Visual; I stamped the words "teacher" and "rock" in MFT Hot Fudge; then stamped the "U" from Verve's You and I set in PTI's Hawaiian Shores - love how it reads "teacher U rock"...  :D

Inside
Inside - Up Close
Perfect for a year-end teacher's gift and since this one has a bit of bulk, we'll be giving it in a clear envelope - always fun when you can see your creation through the envelope.

Thanks for popping in and don't forget to join us at Crafty Creations with Something Old / Something New!
