Luau Birthday Party

A co-worker's granddaughter is having a luau birthday party, and this is her birthday card. I received the flip flop image by Imaginisce as a "thank you" for a recent order I placed through Eclectic Paperie - how cool is that? They worked perfect for this card.

The layout is Jen's Sketch For You to Try (7/31/10); some Cosmo Cricket Delovely paper, paper pieced flip flops, glittery straps, some white sparkly gems, some new Cranberry Dimensional Pearls from Taylored Expressions and we were looking like a luau...or so I thought. LOL

The inside was decorated heavily too with more Delovely paper, some Hawaiian Shores ribbon with a small piece of Delovely paper added to the top of the ribbon. All girly-girl with this card.

Thanks for stopping by; here's hoping you have an incredible week!

Hugs, ~M.

Stamping Bella Shower BUGG

Look at my cute little Shower BUGG from Stamping Bella; isn't she ADORABLE?? The Bellarific theme this week is paper piecing - ah....one of my favorites! Not only did I paper piece almost all of this cute little BUGG, but I added Crystal Effects so its all shiny... This next picture really shows the shine - that's my light reflecting off her umbrella - LOL! (sorry for the really rotten 1st picture - BLECH!!)

Aren't her umbrella and rain boots adorable - THEY MATCH! :D

Ah, so matchy-matchy - I seem to like matchy-matchy, not too good at matchy-mixy! LOL

I used some of my all-time favorite paper - Basic Grey's Bittersweet. Did a bit of coloring with Copics, used some glitter on my little BUGG's wings and used Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge for my layout. I added PTI's saddle stitch ribbon and then wrapped it 3 times with chocolate baker's twine - YUM-MO!!

Don't forget, you can click on any of the images to open in their own screen.

Hope you've had a fantabulous week! And thanks so much for visiting!! Hugs, ~M.

All About Me a/k/a Repeat Impressions SOTW

Okay, this card is REALLY for Repeat Impressions Stamp of the Week - one of my ALL-TIME favorite stamps!!! I love these Underpants Frogs - oh yeah, they are so cute! AND I bet you came here thinking you would see THIS card, didn'tcha? Ain't happenin', nope, not today. But I know as of Sunday morning, I wasn't sure WHAT card would be here. Oh yeah...one of those days!

AND I'm going to tell you all about my troubles and if you stick around till the very end, I'll tell you why I think the book should be titled "Michele and the Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" - HA HA HA!!! It really hasn't been that bad, but then again...

Before we move on to the card; don't forget to visit The House that Stamps Built so you can learn how to get 50% off this most adorable stamp!!

I used some DP that I had on my desk from another project (I'll share that later), so I went with it. I so love these froggies in their underpants! Again, you will notice they ARE NOT wearing tidy whities - we don't have those in our house!!

:D

Anyway, I stamped my little friends onto GKD's 80 lb. cream card stock and colored them with Copics. I stamped the frog on the left onto PTI's Hibiscus Burst, the frog on the right onto PTI's Lemon Tart and the one in the middle onto my DP paper - lookie, he has leaves on his undies. CA-UTE! (Don't forget, you can click on any picture and it will open in its own window)

I cut the undies out and mounted with dimensionals for mega 3D effect. I used Jen's Sketch For You To Try from last week (yes, I realize I am late to THAT party too)!! She has another uber cool sketch this week, so pop on over and take a lookie.

Great jumping off point; once I had my frogs in their underpants, I assembled all the pieces. The inside says "See, you made it through another year without croaking" - what a great sentiment for a birthday or a teacher after a school year or bus driver or...ME...yep; gonna mail it to myself!

You see, I had such fun working on the card, till it all went south on me! I put glue on one of the large pieces of DP, then dropped it onto the cardstock it needed to be adhered to - but YOU KNOW it didn't fall in the right place - so I had to flip the base over...that left the other side rather sticky. Oh, it just kept sticking to everything. Then I put my ribbon on, attached it to the back with tacky tape...and it was crooked! URGH!

Then I dropped the glue bottle, picked it up and then knocked off the lid to the glue bottle - STILL haven't found it! You know why all these things went wrong? Two reasons:

1. I took our oldest, age 14, to see "Dinner with Schmucks" (rated PG-13) - GREAT/HILARIOUS movie, but not for a 14 year old - oh my!!!

2. When we got home from the movie and I went to the bathroom, I found my OWN underpants were on inside out. Oh yeah, been wearing them ALL DAY LONG like that.

See, do not put frogs in your underpants OR your underpants on wrong side out and you will have a great day - I'm convinced!

Thanks for stopping by; I love when you visit! Have a fantabulous week friends!! Hugs, ~M.

Just sittin' here thinking of you!

Yep, that's what I'm doing - just sittin' here thinking of YOU - L@@K, my card even says that! LOL

Did you have a good weekend? Our oldest daughter and I traveled to Oklahoma Saturday - we were gone ALL DAY LONG; whew, am I tired!

I made this CAS (clean & simple) card this past week and just love it!!! There are actually 2 rows of scallops at the bottom, but you can't see them both since the card stock is so dark. :(

The chair is stamped and die cut twice, it's even curled around the edges with shading so it looks all comfy...but lonely.

Hope you have a FABULOUS week and I'm super thrilled you stopped by to visit! Hugs, ~M.

J2810 - WIW Lupine

Hi there friends; how's your week going? It was hard to return to work this week; the girls and I attended a concert last Thursday night arriving home around midnight..what's the big deal about midnight? It proved to me that I am REALLY too old to stay up that late. LOL I had taken Friday off work but had to go in to do a report, so I was up and around (naked like - no makeup, no "styled" hair) and into the office at 7:15 a.m., but I only had to stay about 2 hours. Yeah...I snuck a nap in later that day!

It's another "What If Wednesday" from Repeat Impressions. Wendy gives us a sketch and we all play along AND we hope you will play along too. There is a $25 gift certificate up for grabs, won't you join the fun? Visit The House That Stamps Built for all the deets.

I used one of my favorite RI floral stamps - Lupine; I just love this image! Layout is pretty simple, added some ribbon and a beautiful slider from Flourishes (not sure they offer these anymore, but they have plenty of other great items); I've had these sliders F-O-R-E-V-E-R; time to stop hoarding them and put them to use, yes? K, you shaking your head is REALLY not necessary! HA HA

I punched some butterflies using the Martha Stewart punch, added pearls and glue dots to adhere them which also allows me to raise their wings slightly.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you will join in the fun. Be sure to check out what the other RI Rock Stars have created:

Have a GREAT week; hugs, ~M.

Girls, Gingham, Sketch, Paperweight, Mermaid...wow, I'm full of it!

Greetings friends; how are you? Summer is passing so quickly; I cannot believe the children start school in a month! How's your summer going?

Believe it or not, I combined two challenges with this card:

1. Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge (ALWAYS fun)
2. Dare to Get Dirty2010 Girls, Girls, Girls...and Gingham Challenge (by Peanutbee - love her creations!!)

I love to do the various sketches but seldom get them posted timely, but this week I'm on the ball. I just had to find some time to stamp - just for fun, so I made this card and I'm working on another one. This image was a freebie at Bugaboo Stamps - they have some of the CUTEST digital images. Unfortunately, I had some trouble with my printer ink smearing as I colored the image - HATE when that happens!!! Anyone have any input on keeping that from happening? I love using digital images, in fact, the paperweight below is also a digital image which I resized to fit inside the paperweight. Hence...one of the things I love about digital images.

Anyway, I enjoyed coloring this little cutie; added some flowers using PTI's floral dies and that's where I was finally able to add the gingham. HA! Added a couple jewels, sponged on some chalk ink around the edges and called it good.

And last, here's the paperweight I made for a dear friend's daughter that LOVES mermaids. I also made her birthday card with this same image - click HERE to see it. WOW; is it hard to photograph the image behind glass! The edge of the image was colored pink and then glassy accents & glitter were added; I also added glassy accents to each of the balloons.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a fabulous week! Hugs, ~M.

Billy - Repeat Impressions SOTW

Meet Billy - he's this week's Stamp of the Week at Repeat Impressions which means YOU can purchase him at 50% off! Visit The House That Stamps Built to see all the fabulous creations and find all the deets on the discount!

Seems like just about everybody created a "scene" with Billy. I had something totally different in mind, but it didn't work out - but I knew I wanted a "miss you" type card; so I decided to use the kite...reminds of when kids are little and they let something go and the wind takes it up...up...and away! Our youngest daughter 'accidentally' let our oldest daughters balloon go when they were very young - oh my, you would have thought the world was coming to an end - LOL!

Anywho, I stamped Billy on GKD's 120 lb. white paper and paper pieced his overalls and the kite. The rest was colored with Copics. I sponged in the sky and dirt.

I stamped the "Miss You Friend" directly onto the twill ribbon using Memento Rich Cocoa ink, added a button, some chocolate baker's twine and we're good...he's sad...but good!

:D

Thanks for looking; hope you have a GREAT week! Hugs, ~M.
