More joy - CASE from Carissa

Hi there - I'm back with the cursive JOY from SSS; see previous card HERE; these cards were CASE'd from Carissa Wiley (Sprinkled with Glitter)!

I stamped the paint strips with various Distress Inks, die cut the joy but then also cut it multiple times from white card stock to make the two cards. The leaves and berries are from Hero Arts Christmas Trimmings set. I stamped the leaves and berries with THIS background stamp; also used it on the side of the green card base.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a GREAT weekend ahead!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

JOY

Hi friends - I have a few more holiday cards to share...

This is the JOY die from SSS, it comes with the large JOY as well as a small cursive 'joy' which you will see a little later this week!

I didn't plan this card too well as when I finished, it was too large for a standard A2 envelope - HA; I'm forever doing things like that.

I sponged on the background then went scrounging for some designer paper that would match - kinda backwards, but it worked just fine! I spritzed the background with water and splattered on some white paint.

Once I die cut the letters from designer paper, I cut them several more times from black card stock and adhered all the layers together. I thought it would be fun to add some embossing - kinda like snow on the edges...see it or am I lost? :D

A white frame was added; the leaves and berries are from Hero Arts Holly Days set and leftover from Christmas 2016 - TRUTH!! I added a strip of black/white paper and silver glitter paper. The additional sentiment comes from Mama Elephant with the initial joy masked off.

Thanks for stopping by; hope your holiday season is full of JOY!

Hugs,

Christmas Tag V

I am back with the final Christmas tag in the group photo I posted HERE.

Each is just a little different!

For all the poinsettia tags, I did some combination of zig clean clear markers, Copics, and oxide inks on watercolor paper before stamping and die cutting the images. The leaves and were stamped on watercolor paper colored with oxide inks. I aded some white translucent paste to this one and a button to the center of the poinsettia. Some jingle bells and ribbon finish it off. Thanks for popping in to see my Christmas tags; these were part of a gift given to a dear, dear friend that I know will use them and just loves handmade things such as this!

MERRY CHRISTMAS FRIENDS!

Christmas Tag IV

I am back with the fourth Christmas tag in the group photo I posted HERE; and it's the ODD ONE OUT from all the others. :D

It's Snowy; I absolutely ADORE this image from Penny Black!

I stamped Snowy in SSS Intense Black onto fog card stock and colored directly on the card stock with Copics, then added LOTS of snow! Sooo simple; tied on some jingle bells and ribbon to finish it off. Stay tuned, next tag coming up soon!

Christmas Tag III

I am back with the third Christmas tag in the group photo I posted HERE.

Each is just a little different!

For all the poinsettia tags, I did some combination of zig clean clear markers, Copics, and oxide inks on watercolor paper before stamping and die cutting the images. The leaves and berries on this one were stamped on Queen and Company designer paper, some shading was added with a grey Copic. I added a strip of acetate that has some brushstroke greens that match the leaves - hard to see in the photo!

Some jingle bells and ribbon finish it off. Stay tuned, next tag coming up soon!

Each is just a little different!

For all the poinsettia tags, I did some combination of zig clean clear markers and oxide inks on watercolor paper before stamping and die cutting the images. The leaves are purely oxide ink on watercolor paper shaded with a gray copic; I added some translucent texture paste to the upper and right hand side, sponged on some oxide ink beneath the flower, some jingle bells and ribbon finish it off. Christmas Tag I

I am back with the first Christmas tag in the group photo I posted HERE.

Each is just a little different!

For all the poinsettia tags, I did some combination of zig clean clear markers and oxide inks on watercolor paper before stamping & die cutting the images. For this particular poinsettia, when I stamped the image, the paper moved slightly so I just thickened ALL the lines with a black sharpie then added some copied shading on the edges. The leaves are purely oxide ink on watercolor paper shaded with a gray copic; I added glossy accents to the berries. A polka dot layer of vellum sponged with oxide ink, some jingle bells and ribbon finish it off. Stay tuned, next tag coming up soon!

Christmas Tags

Over the past couple of weeks, I spent quite a bit of time making some Christmas tags; each is different...and then there is one way out in left field - HA - but the image is one of my all-time fave winter images!

I will show a tag per day over the next couple of weeks, but for now here's the whole group of them! The majority of the tags use THIS set and dies from Simon Says Stamp; each is different, one uses white texture paste, one uses translucent paste, one uses a hodge podge of designer paper, two use vellum and then there is that crazy one! Very CAS and adorable, I think.

Hope you enjoy the parade of tags coming your way!

Hugs!

Penny Black Joy

Once again, I was inspired by the fun color combo at Color Throwdown (photo below) and hadn't used this stamp although I purchased it last year. #truth I embossed the image on Tim Holtz watercolor paper and used a combo of Tombow markers to water color and also direct to paper. I used a SSS stencil to add a bit more interest, kept it super simple and mounted on a Fog card base. I added some washi to the inside and that's it!

Thanks for stopping by; hope your week is full of JOY!

Power Poppy Portion Control

Here in the US, we are celebrating Thanksgiving TOMORROW...how many of YOU are going to practice portion control? LOL - I suck at portion control and food self-control! #truth

But I love the challenge over at Power Poppy for November and I'm new to their stamps! Yes, tis true! Their images are so detailed and for me, a bit overwhelming! But I wanted to color a poinsettia that was a soft pink - almost white - on the inside of the petals with brighter pinks on the edges so that was my goal. So many things went wrong in my creation...it happens!

Image result for pink poinsettia
I stamped the image in Hero Arts Intense Black and ultimately ended up cutting it out; I colored the image with Copics. I loved this striped paper but it was pretty bright, so I added a layer of vellum to mute it a bit; stamped the sentiment in Liquid Platinum and stamped a couple partial images from the Hero Arts Christmas Trimmings set and embossed in white.

I was also inspired by this GORGEOUS photo; all that pink got me like...mmmm...mmmm....

Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a GREAT holiday!

Hugs!

Card Concept 82 - Classy and Elegant

11/20/17

Oh goodness, another color combo from Color Throwdown that I LOVE (see graphic below)!! Goodness, a perfect winter wonderland combo...or for me? A blue poinsettia! :D Why not, right?

I embossed the Hero Arts image with silver tinsel embossing powder (think chunky) and colored with 4 Zig Clean Clear Brushes, super simple. I resisted the urge to splatter silver paint and instead kept it super clean and simple! The poinsettia is mounted with fun foam and I added a strip of a darker blue card stock to the top and bottom, and a strip of shiny silver card stock too. I mounted the focal point on a panel embossed with a Tim Holtz Alterations folder.

I stamped the sentiment on the inside with Spring Rain and Delicata silver.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a great week...and for those in the US; HAPPY THANKSGIVING (get your stretchy pants on)!!

Hugs!

Hope your birthday is like...

Hi friends!

Did any of you see recently where Ellen Hutson asked what crafty trend do you dislike that most people seem to love? It was a great topic of discussion on Facebook and Instagram; I loved joining that conversation! I'm the one that never joined the mermaid wave (HA), pineapple palooza, or unicorn unites! Not my thing, but they are the thing of many others and they make amazing creations with them!

I had a friend ask for a mermaid card for a friend's birthday; she specifically wanted it to say: "I hope your birthday is like a shimmering mermaid"; then she sent me this link: Cottonelle Shimmering Mermaid. That's just funny peeps! So I had used a mermaid previously from Ladybug Crafts Ink (no longer in business) and knew it would be perfect to use again. So I set about making my card.

I created an ombre mermaid's tail and she needed blonde hair per request - and while I was at it, I created ombre fish too! I created the text and printed it on card stock; the rest is just lots of layering. I added a super thin layer of purple to accent the shirt, then when trying to figure out what to do for the background, I had created this polka dot piece with Nuvo mousse sponged over the top, but I just didn't like it. But I did cut down a small piece and add to the main panel; you have to look super close to see the shimmer and polka dots but it's there and I like it!

Painted with Mother of Pearl Nuvo mousse on the tail and fish
I finished it off with a wave die cut from Taylored Expressions (also colored ombre and pretending to be Kathy Racoosin, I used a nubby rag and colorless blending solution for texture - posted pics in progress on my Instagram story, looks SO COOL IRL. You can see a bit of the texture in the polka dot photo above) and some sparkling white enamel dots. Thanks for stopping by; hope you are having a great week!

Hugs!

Did you see this week's color throwdown (ctd466)?  Such beautiful fall colors, I absolutely adore them-and they aren’t colors I normally use when creating. But that’s half the fun right; giving you a chance to step out of your comfort zone and create something new and different. Even more amazing? I didn’t create with florals! LOL

I used this fun stamp set from Avery Elle, Brushed-I used distress inks to stamp the stripes at different lengths and at this point I totally changed my plan, and used the fun funky blueprints to cut the main panel. I then embossed the happy birthday and splatters in Ranger gold. The 'happy birthday' didn't pop much, so I added a shadow with a white gel pen, layered it on some sparkle gold from MFT, and then created a top panel embossing the stripes and highlighting with gold Delicata ink.

I mounted everything on a top folding card base, and decorated the inside also. Thanks for stopping by, hope you have a great week!

Hugs!
