Hello...friends...and baby Griffin!

Hello there friends; hope this note finds you doing well!

I recently hosted a baby shower for a co-worker and his wife, they are expecting their first child December 20. What fun!! They are having a little boy; their colors are teal and grey. We ordered some custom sugar cookies, DELICIOUS, in onesies and baby carriages (see below); we gathered for appetizers and drinks at one of their favorite Mexican restaurants and just had a great time.

This is the card I made for them. The "Hello" sentiment and die are from Papertrey Ink (Phrase Play #3 - I use this die soooo much); the paper is, AGAIN, Concord and 9th's Happy Hues for the focal piece. I die cut the hello, arrow and center piece (which says little one) multiple times from Smokey Shadow card stock and layered it altogether for some fun dimension.

I coated the arrow in glossy accents and sponged the bottom portion of the hello in MFT's Sno Cone ink for added interest.

Thanks for stopping in; hope you have a great week!

Hugs,

More Enclosed: Present in Purple

Our youngest daughter had a dear friend/classmate with a birthday last week; we baked her banana bread - her favorite and I created this card for her (she loves purple...did I do okay ya think?)!!

I used the PTI Enclosed: Present mini stamp set and die again, this time sponging in purple inks. I added the bow (without the tails), cut from both white card stock and sponged as well as craft foam for some dimension. Tied on a tag and added a double bow; base paper is PTI's Confetti Toss. Quick and easy!

Our daughter said her friend was completely surprised and so appreciative of the treat, we'll label that a SUCCESS!

Hope YOUR week is a SUCCESS!

December 25

Hi friends!

Hope you are having a great weekend!

I had a bit of time to craft today and loved the sketch at Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge (SSSC298 - layout below) so I set about making a Christmas card. Christmas is JUST AROUND THE CORNER - eeekkk...so not ready.
Smiley from Millan.Net

This card came together quickly - and I didn't even panic when my wink of stella pen decided to poop on my tag! HA! I made the best of it and created random wink of stella circles - see them in that close up photo? YES - happy, happy!

The focal point is Memory Box's Distress Tag; I sponged a ton of ink on it - Old Paper, Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy and Pumice Stone; stamped the image in Memento Rich Cocoa. To add a bit more interested, I sponged on Fired Brick using the Dots and Lines stencil by Simon Says Stamp; I wanted to add some sparkle to the #'s which was great...till I saw the big ole blob by the 5; like I said, what's a girl to do? Embellish with more blobs and I like them!

The Cupcake Inspiration today was snowflakes so I thought they were the perfect touch for the base layer, added some DP from a couple different packs of My Mind's Eye, added a big ole button and a double-loop bow of hemp cord.

Thanks for popping in - hope you have a great week!

Hugs,

For You

Hi friends! Hope all my friends in the US of A had a great Thanksgiving? Lots to be thankful for!!

I made a baby shower card this weekend, but I'll have to show it later...meanwhile, I have this new set from Papertrey Ink (Enclosed: Present Mini Stamp Set) and couldn't wait to use it...can I tell you how HARD this card was for me? UGH...hate when that happens; nothing seemed to be working out - PLEASE tell me you have those times too? :D

I sponged a piece of misc. card stock with 3 MFT inks: Bubblegum, Cotton Candy, and Razzle Berry; love the shading. I added a piece of MFT polka dot designer paper, cut the bow from both craft foam and more white card stock and sponged it with Bubblegum only. I kept the card CAS (clean and simple) adding more designer paper along the bottom and a small pink scallop. On the inside, I included some pink card stock and then some washi - which matches the DP on the outside perfectly!

Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a GREAT week!

Hugs,

Smile!

Hi friends - did any of you catch my brief periscope last week in which I used these Happy Hues cards from Concord and 9th and the Playful Blooms stencil from StencilGirl? This was my 2nd favorite card of the bunch and I turned it into a little shaker card.

The die 'smile' die is from Simon Says Stamp Happy and Smile set and cuts out the center of the flower; layered in some pretty silver and white sequins and mounted on a piece of PTI Berry Sorbet.

I used Whipped Spackle, a smidgen of  Bo Bunny glitter paste and colored it all with Mister Huey's guava mini mist before layering over the stencil. I cut the Happy Hue's card down and used the back portion on the inside of the card.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a great week!!

Concord & 9th + StencilGirl Products

Did you catch that little periscope tonight? Nah, I don't have fancy equipment, I'm not well known, but I still thought it would be fun to show you a few of the products I used and where I landed with my experimenting...interesting outcomes! The replay of periscope will be up for another 24 hours, catch it if you'd like, you can find me at @whimsycreation.

Now, remember THIS post - I admitted I "might" kinda sorta REALLY like StencilGirl products! HA! And yes, I already ordered another stencil and might be eyeing a few more! In the post I linked to, I blended distress inks and accented the flower with distress markers; I adore how that card turned out; but I had the idea of using Bo Bunny sugar glitter paste with the stencil - talk about messy. Goodness sakes! I actually tried sugar glitter, whipped spackle PLUS sugar glitter PLUS Mister Huey mini mists for color, and sugar glitter with distress ink (that didn't turn out so well, too heavy handed) - fun experimenting though; I'll definitely be making cards with a couple of these and chalk the others up as fails. #ithappens

I used Concord and 9th's Happy Hue's watercolor card pack for all the cards; just layered on the stencil and played around.

look, I used the other side of the Happy Hue's card stock for the inside (nothing goes to waste)

Embossing and look at the sugar glitter paste - delicious I'm tellin' ya!!

Another angle of the glitter paste and foil
For this particular card I am sharing, I covered the stencil in Bo Bunny sugar glitter paste ONLY and cut the front panel down using MFT's blueprints. Layered it onto an embossed piece of PTI Aqua Mist and mounted the entire piece onto PTI's rustic white. But first, let's back up and savor that gorgeous sparkle from the glitter paste. THEN let's look at that grunge-like foil - it's not perfect huh? That's OKAY; I don't own a Minc mini or even a laminator but when Shari and Heidi recently visited Tim Holtz's studio, I saw them use a mini collage glue stick and foil - yeah, a way I could participate in foiling - can't say it's elegant like some of the cards you see with the Minc Mini but its not mean to be! I do love the touches of foiling you can add here and there to any project! I finished the card off with an embossed piece of vellum and a few MME enamel dots.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a great week!

Hugs,

Prayers & Thanks

Hi friends - hope you are having a good weekend!

I started these focal panels early in the week, just random watercolors thrown onto some watercolor paper. Later in the week, I placed an order with Concord and 9th...heavens to besty, how does this happen? Their Bundle of Kindness pack comes with the Happy Hues card pack...YES, those card bases are straight from the card pack; crazy how the colors match huh?

I die cut the words "Prayers" from Hero Arts and "Thanks" from MFT Stamps from the main panel. I then cut Prayers from black card stock and Thanks from aqua mist multiple times for fun dimemsion. I covered the main piece with 2 coats of clear wink of stella then a thick coat of glossy accents. Added some black hearts, coated in black wink of stella and more glossy accents. When the Happy Hues card pack arrived, I decided to make these super CAS cards; I think they look fabulous on that watercolor background.

Thanks for stopping by; take care!

Prayers

Hi friends - how are you?

Hubby and I just returned from a 3-day mini vacation! So much fun but I am so very tired. AND the laundry fairy DID NOT visit while I was gone - why is that?
Smiley from Millan.Net

I shouldn't complain too much, our son actually did all his own laundry, so I guess a cute little red-headed fairy did visit.
Smiley from Millan.Net

I have this new Playful Bloom stencil from StencilGirl, although I purchased mine through Simon Says Stamps; I thought it would be fun to add to a card and camouflage a sentiment. A-ha; the perfect sentiment from Hero Arts, Prayers!

I taped the stencil down and sponged on several distress inks: Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade. After I had all my colors added, I enhanced the flower with a few distress markers (dots and lines). I die cut the word 'prayers' from the main panel, then die cut it again 4 times from MFT Cherry Crisp card stock for a great 3D touch. I stamped the sentiment in Archival black, then sponged on some falling hearts in Spun Sugar; I added the entire panel to a Cherry Crisp card front...THAT OPENED BACKWARDS - #truth!

No problem, I cut the card apart, adhered it all to a white card and sponged some more hearts on the inside. HA!

Thanks for stopping by; hope you have a great week!!
