Crafts 4 Eternity - no pattern paper

Hi friends - welcome back for another super fun recipe over at Crafts 4 Eternity - NO PATTERN PAPER! And one lucky participant will win a $12 voucher from Di's Digi Stamps!

My co-worker's father-in-law recently passed away; he played basketball at Kansas State University and was quite well known...how so? KState created a tribute video to him which can be seen HERE - amazing right?

Needless to say, I wanted our sympathy card to encompass KState colors. I embossed one of the flowers from MFT's Peaceful Wildflowers in white and added in some flowers from Verve Visual's Because of You in VersaMark so they were a bit more subtle - love how they look close up!

Thanks for popping in - hope you have a GREAT weekend!!

Hugs,

Pretending to be Laura Fadora - Crafts 4 Eternity

Hi friends - welcome back to another fun recipe at Crafts 4 Eternity where we want to see YOUR creations with numbers! Fun, huh?

One lucky participant will win 3 free downloads from Stamping All Day, so take some time and play along.

I made a birthday card for our daughter's best friend and I tried to intimidate Laura Bassen a/k/a Laura Fadora, you can see her sample HERE. I need to learn to embrace more white space.
From Millan.Net
But I still like how it turned out. I used lots of distress inks: Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Old Paper, Evergreen Bough to create the water color background; the image and sentiment from Verve Visual were embossed with clear embossing powder using black VersaFine ink.

As you can see, my number is on the inside. :D The numbers are white and glittery but I colored them with Copics.

Thanks for stopping by; hope you can join the fun! Take care!

Hugs,

Curtain Call + Fusion

Hi friends - how are you? Hope you've had a great weekend!

I wanted to create a card using the inspiration photo at Curtain Call (HERE) and combine it with the adorable inspiration at Fusion (HERE) (photos below also). GAH - could either be more adorable!!

I started out with the smoother side of some Tim Holtz water color paper and sponged on several distress inks (from top to bottom): Festive Berries, Spun Sugar, Tumbled Glass, Broken China, and Faded Jeans. The rest is very simple; cut two hearts with MFT's Pierced Heart STAX dies, one in Pink Pirouette stamped with MFT's Damask background, the larger from MFT's Neutral and stamped with their Linen background. Each heart is mounted with a double layer of dimensional tape. I added some ribbon from my stash and the sentiment from Verve Visual's Love Notes in MFT's Hot Fudge ink.

Inside

Added a couple layers on the inside using Mama Elephant's Femme Frame dies, more ribbon and a wooden heart colored with Copics, added a layer of Clear Wink of Stella and glossy accents.

Thanks for popping in - hope you have a great week ahead of you!

Hugs,

UR Cool - Crafts 4 Eternity Reflection

Hi friends - HAPPY, HAPPY FRIDAY!

Our oldest returns to college tomorrow; she was lucky enough to snag an apartment (cheaper than the dorm) for this next semester, so we'll get her all moved in and settled tomorrow!

But today, the team over at Crafts 4 Eternity is sharing a recipe focusing on reflection - mirrors, sequins, reflective items, etc. I made this super tiny and cute Valentine card using MFT's Tag Builder #3.

Just for playing along and showing us something reflective on your card, one person will win 4 free images from Sassy Studio Designs.

My card is super simple using various elements from the tag builder set and one stamp set - MFT's Damask background - LOVE! I added sequins with a drop of glossy accents on top, coated the arrow in glossy accents, used silver card stock AND added some silver shimmer to the UR COOL silver cut out (although super hard to see in the photo).

Thanks for stopping by; hope you'll join the fun at Crafts 4 Eternity. Have a GREAT weekend!

Hugs,

Curtain Call + New Baby

I absolutely adore this challenge image over at the Curtain Call blog, but I'm all done with winter...tooo bad the weather doesn't seem to agree!! :-)

That's ok, I used the colors as a little inspiration for a new baby which entered this world January 6! The lady who has done my nails and pedicures for years welcomed her first child-a little baby girl, Emma. I love the soft neutral colors with a light pop of pink. Can't wait to deliver our gift!

All panels were stamped with MFT's Linen background in either MFT's neutral or VersaMark...I carried the same color scheme into the inside using pink as a shadow ink for the sentiment.

The 'sugar and spice' sentiment is from an older Cornish Heritage Farm set illustrated by Kim Hughes, Little Gal. The scallop die and inserts are from Verve, Rounded Scallop Frame, decorative edge is from Verve's Making a Statement stamp set. The little baby buggy is Verve's Treasured Words and is stamped in MFT's neutral, 2nd generation. I added Antique Linen Distress Ink to all the layers, tied on a big pink button added a big ole hemp bow and some fun delicate embellishments. Thanks for stopping by, hope you have a great week!!

Snowy in blue...and I've been concussed!

Let's just say this week has not gone well; while attending our daughter's volleyball practice, I got nailed in the head by our hardest hitter on the team. I turned my head briefly to exchange ball carts and CHA-CHING; she won and I had a concussion. I've never had one before and I hope I never do again. It was a mild one but boy, oh boy, was I nauseous with a nasty headache!! Therefore, I feel like everything has been a wee bit of a haze. But I'm happy to report, I'm all better and doing just fine!

Let's move on to the fun crafty stuff now, shall we? This week at Crafts 4 Eternity, our recipe is "Blue Tones" which worked out perfectly as our youngest daughter's best friend loves blue, so that made for a nice combo - create a card that would actually be GIVEN to someone and check off the recipe! Play along with this week's recipe, and one lucky participant will win 3 free images from Michele of Crafts 4 Eternity!

I used Snowy a lot this winter, HERE and HERE and loved the bold, red colors but it was certainly fun to use the blue colors too. :D

LOVE the PTI Double Cuts dies; I used 2 colors of light blue card stock; but colored the top layer with Copics to darken it up a wee bit more, making it a closer match (IRL) to Snowy. Splattered on some Mister Huey's Opaque White for a bit of snow.

Thanks for popping in; hope you have a GREAT weekend. Take care!

PS - Crafts 4 Eternity is having a DT call; would you like to join the fun? Check it out HERE!

One Little Word - 2015

If you saw my post yesterday, you will know I was contemplating participating in Ali EdwardsOne Little Word - I've never done it before but decided this year it felt RIGHT!

So here you go; here's my word:

FLOURISH - it truly encompasses all my goals for 2015 which by the way, I have NEVER written my goals down, but I did this year!
From Millan.Net

I was contemplating 4 different words for 2015; when I looked each word up in the dictionary, this one fit PERFECTLY:

  • to grow well
  • to be healthy
  • to be successful
  • to do very well
  • to hold up and show (something) in an excited or proud way
So there you go, my One Little Word for 2015. Thanks for stopping by; here's hoping your 2015 is filled with lots and lots of joy!

Hugs,

MOJO378 - Birthday

Hi friends; HAPPY NEW YEAR!
From Millan.Net

I don't drink but thought this little smiley was perfect for celebrating the new year! Did anyone do anything exciting to ring in the New Year? I'm happy to report I made it past midnight - I RARELY ever stay up that late; and even after being up that late, I had a super productive day on the 1st - that always feels good!

Below I get in to a few thoughts about 2015 so stayed tuned and let me know your thoughts; but for now, I wanted to pop in and share a card I made for MOJO378 - a tall and skinny card; I always love making these!

Pretty straightforward stamping and coloring with Copics. I distressed all the layers with Old Paper Distress Ink, added some stitching to the flags, clear Wink of Stella for the candles and flower as well as glossy accents for the candles.

Thanks for popping in; hope you have a great day!

PS - anyone ever do Ali Edwards 'one word'? If so, tell me what you thought. I'm considering it for 2015. AND I never write down goals; I always have a few in my head, but I think this year, I'll actually WRITE A FEW DOWN in a place I can see on a regular basis and REFER to them! And last but not least; I saw THIS POST and fell in love with the idea. So far in our family, I will be participating, our youngest daughter and her best friend will be participating too. We all went to Hobby Lobby on January 1 and picked out a 'holder' (we all chose jars although you certainly don't have to use a jar) to hold our happiness lists. I'll be writing my very first happiness list the evening of 1/1/15. So there you go; I'm thinking 2015 is going to be a GREAT year!
