Wedding Bells II?

Remember THIS card? Yeah...no wedding bells in this card either. tee hee

The same friend needed another wedding card - this time the colors were hot pink and black. I told her I was taking it a totally different direction and I think I did!

I saw THIS tutorial by Julia Stainton and wanted to give it a try - love her card in black! I used 2 different  floral sets from Verve Visual - Great Friend and Bloom and Grow and used black with Raspberry Fizz as the accent color. I tied on some black satin ribbon and added some gems to each of the small flowers.

Can you see the 2 hearts I added around the satin bow? They are by Heidi Swapp - love how they overlap since the wedding will be the joining of two hearts. :D

I finished the inside with a sentiment from Big & Bold Wishes, the gorgeous heart border punch from Martha Stewart and a small strip of black to offset the hearts.

Thanks for popping by again; hope you have a great weekend!

Hugs,

Wedding Bells

Alas, there are no bells on this card. LOL

A friend asked me to make a wedding card for her; the colors? Black, silver and purple - aren't they beautiful together?

The dress (I looked the stamp over and over, but have no clue who makes it) is stamped and embossed on vellum paper. I used both sides of the silver paper - the layer beneath the dress is a shimmery white with silver scrolls through it - so beautiful. This particular layer was cut by hand and then both were layered onto Royal Velvet from Papertreyink. There is a small flower and leaves on the backside of the dress - I colored these with Copics - very faint and oh so dainty.

The flower is a combination of Royal Velvet and a paperback book; edged in Royal Velvet and Silver; I added a large sparkly gem flourish as well as a gem to the center of the flower. I also wedged in a couple of pearl pins that I thought were so delicate and pretty.

I finished off the inside by stamping and embossing the "Mr. & Mrs." and added the final sentiment in Royal Velvet "and they lived happily ever after"; rounded a couple corners, added a heart border punch and there you have it.

Of course, it sounds so simple when typing this - yet it took me a week to finish it. LOL Busy schedules and lack of mojo "may" have been a significant impediment. :D

Hope you had a great weekend; see you again soon!

Hugs,

TLT - Things With Wings

HAPPY TUESDAY!!!

Oh, so it's not Tuesday? Well, technically I'm writing this at 10 p.m. CST on Tuesday so it counts. :D

But you're probably not reading it till Wednesday - that's okay peeps, don't get your knickers all twisted!! LOL

I finally had a bit of time...oh wait...that's I MADE TIME to finish my TLT card which is Things With Wings. I saw a few other design team members took the liberty of finding wings outside the norm of sweet Ruby; I didn't want them to be alone, so I determined my "ladybug" in this Buttercup image (yeah, that wee little one on the flower) would be my "Things With Wings".

Layout comes from There She Goes; cute layout - you should try it too! Designer papers are from MME (My Mind's Eye - of course) with some PTI Kraft, Dark Chocolate and Orange Zest - lots of fun, spring colors!

I added some chocolate baker's twine, a couple bows and two PTI buttons layered. The sentiment was stamped on a cream flag and layered over an Orange Zest flag, tied together with more baker's twine.

I finished the inside with more DP, corner chomper and sweet little Buttercup again!

Our inspiration cupcake for this week:

I can never pass up utilizing a ladybug whenever our cupcake inspiration fits the bill! Is it because we call our youngest daughter Kaity-bug Ladybug? I'm not sure, but I pulled out PTI's Little Lady set and made a totally CAS (clean and simple) card in UNDER 15 minutes - maybe even 10 minutes; not sure it gets much more CAS than this!

DP is by MME; added some distress ink; used a PTI scalloped die on the inside and that's it-simple, y et perfect for expressing your gratitude!

Thanks for stopping by; take care!

Happy Mother's Day - 2012

Before I was a Mom...
author: Unknown

BEFORE I WAS A MOM...

I made and ate hot meals. I had unstained clothing. I had quiet conversations on the phone.

Before I was a Mom... I slept as late as I wanted and never worried about how late I got into bed. I brushed my hair and my teeth everyday.

Before I was a Mom... I cleaned my house each day. I never tripped over toys or forgot words to lullabies.

Before I was a Mom... I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom... I had never been puked on, pooped on, spit on, chewed on, peed on or pinched by tiny fingers. I had complete control of my mind, my thoughts, and my body. I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom... I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom... I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put her down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much.

Before I was a Mom... I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important.

Before I was a Mom... I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment, or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom.

Happy Mother's Day!

Treat Jar and Matching Card

Remember Tuesday, the Ladybug's were to make anything NOT square and I showed off this little gem:

Well, what do you know, I DID get a chance to make a matching card! :D Such fun...I loved creating it BUT it did not go smoothly...not sure why. Regardless, I still had fun pulling it all together.
Matching Card

I made a circle card - sticking with the theme of anything BUT square! Stitched together a couple pieces of designer paper and adhered the main image with dimensionals. I used a clear spica glitter pen on both the jar and the card - just tough to see in the photos.
Matching card and jar together - and L@@K, there are Twizzler Bites in the jar - YUM!!

TFL; I hope Squirt's coach likes the gift; there is a lot of love in both the jar and the card! She also loves Diet Coke, so the treat will be delivered with a bottle of Diet Coke.
Close up of card

... go ahead, it's the weekend, kick back, relax and take it easy ...

TLT - Anything But Square

Howdy there peeps!

This will be extra short...and extra sweet! :D

This week, we are creating anything that isn't square! I have half of my project done; hope to link up the rest of it before the week is over (please tell life to slow down, so I can meet this goal)!! May is always insane with school wrapping up; graduation, weddings on the horizon, etc.

Anyway, I created a candy jar for one of our youngest daughter's favorite people! It will ultimately be filled with this individual's favorite candy - Twizzler Nibs.

Here's the top of the jar and a close-up - her fave colors are "peacock"; so I went bright and bold! The sentiment is from another one of the Shoes 'n Bags stamp sets and is actually straight; but since it's a clear sentiment, I just curled it on my block and it fit PERFECTLY! Tied on some ribbon, added lots of gorgeous gems and some clear glitter. My goal? A matching circle card; be watching the blog-o for this fun little creation to coordinate with the jar!

Thanks for popping by; be sure to check out the challenge blog and then join the fun!

... You're So Square...NOT! ...

Cupcake Inspiration #159

Happy Sunday peeps - hope you are all well!!

This week we are sponsored by:

Our inspiration cupcake for this week:

All these cupcakes remind me of my Spirograph game I had when I was young - SO LOVED THAT GAME! But I was continually drawn to the flowers and so wanted to make more flowers using 14 count Aida cloth (thanks Queenie Poo for the idea)!! So, that's what I set off to do!

I used Jen's Sketch for You To Try for May - it's a good one; be sure to check it out!  I used some really old My Mind's Eye Paper (Quite Contrary) for some bright and fun colors - not to mention fab florals and polka dots (ahhhh...delightful)!!

I actually have 2 layers of the Fine Linen; the bottom layer is the base card; the top layer is a bit smaller and embossed with large polka dots from Cuttlebug embossing folder.

After cutting the flowers out, I spritzed them with Pink Cadillac Glimmer Mist, added some machine stitching, some faux glass beads, fun ribbon and even a scallop on the inside cut from Aida cloth.

I made this into a Mother's Day card using Verve Visual's Because of You Stamp Set  (You have been my inspiration, my confidante, my friend. Because of you I've learned to love, to forgive, and to live a life filled with purpose.).

TFL! Hope you have a great day!!

So blessed...

Hello friends! How is everyone doing?

I'm completely healthy again - praise the good Lord; but I have been so busy winding down the school year. The last few weeks, we have had 3 soccer games (per week) and 1 track meet (per week) - makes for some crazy times!

I haven't really had much mojo but I forced myself to stamp last night and guess what? I actually LIKE what I created!  :D

I used the Mojo Monday sketch (always a great place to jump start your mojo) and created a Mother's Day card which a friend had requested. I used LOTS of paper from My Mind's Eye Madison Avenue collection combined with lots of pink and chocolate - seriously, can't go wrong with those colors!

I distressed all the edges and then sponged on VersaMagic Jumbo Java. I die cut two hearts and stamped this fabulous sentiment (Just for You) from Verve Visual on the pink heart. I added 3 chocolate pearls and layered it over a cream lace ribbon/bow.

So glad you stopped by - have a GREAT week!

... thinking of you ...
