Piece of Cake

I love this stamp set, Piece of Cake, from Papertreyink. These were the first cards I ever made with the set - I used up some scraps of DP from my desk.

The image is stamped onto an oval nestability then layered onto the same size scalloped oval nestability and then one size larger scalloped oval. I need more nestabilities! :D

The ribbon is also from Papertreyink, Dark Chocolate Twill.

I topped the cake with some glitter - lookin' yummy eh?

Tomorrow is our middle child's b-day, I baked 2 batches of brownies for her to take to school - bet the kids enjoy them.

I'm also going to lunch with her at the school - should be a great day!

Thanks for popping in; have a GREAT week! Hugs, ~M.

Butterflies & Blossoms - baby style

One of our co-workers is having a baby girl very soon! We purchased a gift card, but of course I had to make a pretty card to put it in, right?

This was a fairly quick card to make; I used the paper pad from DCWV called "Butterflies & Blossoms"; I used a 2nd piece and cut the flowers out and mounted on dimensionals in the lower right-had corner. The butterfly is a rub-on from the same se.

I chose this dress stamp - old one, not sure who makes it, but thought the little butterfly and flowers tied in well with the paper. And since we know she's having a girl; we went all out in girl colors! :D

And since we didn't have to mail the card; I went all 3D on the envelope too; aren't those stickers fab? (very last picture with card & envie)

We have such a busy weekend, what about you? We have Benton Day today - a parade, paintball, dodge ball and all those good things. Then tonight we have a cookout to celebrate the start of our 2009 baseball season - that should be lots of fun!

Then tomorrow we have two baseball scrimmages and our middle daughter has softball practice. See...I told you it was going to be very busy! I'll be so tired...glad when DH comes home from his little trip; I'll hand the kids to him and head to bed for some rest - LOL!

Thanks for peeking in; I love when you visit! Hugs, ~M.

Working with Kraft

I have seen so many great creations recently on Kraft card stock using colored pencils to color the images. So...I had to give it a try and I like the result. I've been using Copics on everything, so this was a nice change of pace! I used two new images - Giving Shelter by Rachelle Anne Miller and Daisy by Elisabeth Bell.

I used SCS Sketch Challenge #224 - I love this sketch and will definitely use it again! You know me, I love to make more than 1 card at a time so I inked up both images with Memento Tuxedo Black and stamped them onto PTI's Kraft. Then I used watercolor pencils to color the images. I love both of these images, they are so adorable. I also decorated the inside of both cards.

I used Kraft and SU! Real Red card stock, the DP is by SU! called Bella Rose.

Isn't the little girl ADORABLE? I just love this image! At the center of each flower I used a yellow spica glitter pen and on Daisy's belt and heart on the pocket, I used the red spica glitter pen. You can't see the glitter in the picture, but it adds great 'bling' to the picture!

(Don't forget, you can click on any image to see it up close)

This is the inside of the Daisy card using PTI's anniversary stamp set (yeah, yeah, yeah - I love this set), this sentiment says "sending a happy hello". Unfortunately this stamp set cannot be purchased, you have to earn it.

Next is the "Giving Shelter" card - isn't this image just the cutest?

I once again used colored pencils for the image and added the yellow spica glitter pen to the center of the flower. I also used a black 3D gel pen for the little snail's nose. I wanted my snail to be colorful!! :D

I don't think they are green and orange in real life...but they are on my card! HA!

I have two posts today so if you'd like to see some baseball pictures, just scroll down to the next post!

Thanks for popping in; it's great to see you! Hope you had a fantastic weekend, we sure did!! Hugs, ~M.

First baseball game of the season

We had such fun yesterday! We played 2 baseball games, our last one was scheduled for 8 p.m., but didn't start till 9 p.m. We finished in the rain, thunder and a bit of lightening (far enough away to continue playing) at 10:45 p.m.!!! It was a great day and the boys played GREAT!!

Cuddles & Tickles

I had someone request a baby boy card and I'm sure I used a sketch as my inspiration...but I didn't write it down and it's been a month or so ago when I made this. Oops!

I love the patterned paper - it's Nana's Kids from DCWV; such great paper for kids! Not sure you can see it in this card, but the paper has dry embossing and glitter already included - N-I-C-E!!

Thanks for popping in; I hope you have a great weekend! We have our 1st baseball tournament this weekend and I'm probably more excited than our son! Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net

We play at 3:15 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. - that last one is a late game, but it's going to be so much fun. So far, looks like we'll have a nice day, we're praying NO RAIN!

Hugs, ~M.

Damask Designs...and a new friend!?!

Greetings friends! I love this week's Mojo Monday Challenge (#82) so I had to participate. I'm loving my new Damask Designs stamp set from Papertreyink; I've only played with it twice, but the stamps are so 'in style' right now - you can find all sorts of DP with the same type designs. Love that!

For this card, I used Kraft paper also by Papertreyink. I see so many people use this card stock and I love what I see...but I've had a tough time producing something I liked with it...until this card! Sorry, the first image is a bit dark, but it allows you to see the embossing & Shimmerz a bit better I thought.

The DP is from Stampin' Up, Parisian Breeze...oh I think I'm in love! It's card stock weight paper and it has such great, great texture. Not sure if you can see it in the pictures or not, but it's truly fabulous! I used the DP as my inspiration for the remainder of the card.

The 2 main panels are both Papertreyink Ivory layered onto Kraft card stock. I stamped the Damask Designs image in SU! Craft White and embossed with white detailed embossing powder. Then I sponged the entire square with VersaMagic Dew Drop in Sea Breeze. I used a dried baby wipe to remove some of the ink from the embossed image, then I painted just the embossed image with Butter Cream Shimmerz.

The bottom square was also sponged in Sea Breeze and both were edge with SU! Close to Cocoa. I glued the two main panels together and then adhered them to the main card with pop dots. The strip of polka dot paper is the same paper, reverse side. **SWEET**

I added the button on the left and decided due to the textured card stock not to stamp a sentiment on the lower right-hand side as the sketch offered. I LOVE the inside of the card; I used the large beautiful "Mother" stamp, also from Papertreyink and added the sentiment, "Everything I am today, I owe to you because your love showed me the way." Isn't that PERFECT? I'm telling you, this "Mother" set has so many great sentiments! I used SU! Chocolate Chip for the inside sentiments.

I hope you like the card as much as I do.

Now for anyone still with me? Bet you were wondering about that "new friend" comment in the title eh? Well...not sure where to begin. I love animals, I really do although I'm allergic to both cats and dogs - but hey, I still love them. What I don't love? Well....you can see in these pictures what I don't love. BUT I thought I was a good mommy and remained semi-calm... I insisted it CANNOT come into our house, but the love our little 13 y/o has shown this critter is just amazing!!! You know...she's got that teen attitude, but let me tell you, animals bring out a passion in her that is UNREAL!

K, hold on to your hats...and if you're not sure about this...go ahead and exit out!! DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU!!

Our two youngest children were off playing at some dear friends' house so they missed all the fun. BUT when I went to pick them up, I took my camera and showed them these two pictures...and then b/c I love kids so much and these are some of my favorite little people that our children play with, I said "want to go see it" - MUCH to their mother's dismay! :D

Yeah, it was getting late, almost bedtime, but come on - how cool is this? So, here's our 3 children and our friend's 3 children all looking at the little critter.

Then, here they are still gathered around but all looking up at me.

Great looking bunch of kids huh?

And then last is our friend's 4 y/o daughter inspecting the critter.
I so love this little girl; she is just the most adorable little chick!!

I guess I should quit calling 'it' a critter as our oldest named it Thumbalina b/c she's smaller than her thumb. Now how she knows it's a girl, I don't know. I think I went along with everything tonight because most likely, this little one won't survive the night. You see, it's only 1 MAYBE 2 weeks old, its eyes aren't open yet and it needs it's mommy for milk and care! Our oldest held Thumbalina for at least 2 hours tonight, trying to feed it the milk we drink (skim milk), water, etc. Then she got online and instructed me in all the things I need to buy tomorrow so she can feed it and take care of it.

When I returned the other 3 kids to their home and arrived back home, I found she had placed the heating pad in the garage under the box to keep the little one warm. Seriously....is that not the sweetest thing? The real heartbreak will come if Thumbalina passes on. Our DD will be in tears although I tried really hard to explain how much babies need their mommy's when they're brand new in this world. She only wants to keep it until its eyes are open, but even she told me tonight they have to be fed every hour...not sure how that can happen while she's at school and we're at work. ??

Ah...the innocence and love of children can be so strong!

I hope you've enjoyed my critter post; I hope you're not dancing and screaming as I did when I first discovered she was carrying it around. :D

Thanks for popping in; great to see you! Hugs, ~M.

Cosmobella

I found time this weekend to play with another sketch challenge, this one by Stamp Owl for My Favorite Things (MFTSC76). These girls come up with some great sketches but several things made this one pretty easy:

1. I had already started coloring this image but had never finished it;
2. I needed a birthday card
3. The birthday girl likes to shop and have a drink now and then
4. I thought I was pretty safe with this image - LOL.

The DP is Rainbow Sherbet from Stampin' Up, the colors are Apricot Appeal & Gable Green. The little gems I purchased at my LSS (Scrap Fun*Attic). The image is "Cosmobella" from Stamping Bella - all her Bella's are so very cute!

Thanks for popping in; I hope you have a GREAT week! Hugs, ~M.

Mother

It's been a few weeks since I've had time to participate in one of the Mojo Monday challenges - a new challenge is issued each Monday. This week was a challenging card..for me at least, but I wanted to give it a try and found some time to play today.

I used a couple of my new stamp sets from Papertreyink for the challenge. PTI has another new release coming out April 15 (tax day...do you have YOURS done?) and it looks to be another fabulous release!

The DP is from SU!; everything is done in SU! Rose Red and Gina K Design 80 lb. White. As you can see, I added lots of pearls - I dig my pearls girlies!!

I used the sentiment, "I never knew the depth of your love until I became a parent myself." The Mother set from PTI is full of absolutely fantabulous quotes; probably my all-time favorite stamp set related to Mother's Day!

The other main image is from PTI's Damask Designs, another fabulous set just waiting to get all inky in my stamp room! The gorgeous ribbon is from My Favorite Things and the pearls are from Ellen Hutson's store.

I have two posts today, so be sure to scroll down to see the other one - a cute little baby card.

Thanks for stopping by; let me know what you think of the "Mother" card; I like the way it turned out; I hope you do too!

Hugs, ~M.

Welcome Baby!

A couple of months ago, I was able to meet a new addition to a dear friend's family - a baby girl. She came to lunch with her mom, another friend and me...and yes, she slept through the entire lunch. Typical of a baby huh?
Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net

She is so very cute, her hair was strawberry blonde and, to me, she looks just like her older sister. Our family bought them a gift certificate so I made a welcome baby card to put the certificate within.

Yes, those chocolate blobs are supposed to be there; they hide the first and last name of the child. :D

I used Justrite's Small Letter Set for the words around the circle; so very easy to do - but I have to admit, those letters are wee tiny!! The DP is from Kim Hughes' MochaChica paper from Cornish Heritage farms. I distressed the edges of the Chocolate Chip paper, added white polka dots to the scalloped circle and a large pink button to the center. The card is 3 x 3 and I love it!

We're all having lunch again this week, it'll be so great to see the little one and how she's grown!

Thanks for popping in; I love when stop by! Hugs, ~M.

Thank You - No Stamping Style

I made this card ages ago but never got around to posting it. The card contains no stamping - woot, woot; quick & easy! :D

All paper is from Kim Hughes' Mocha Chica Paper Collection from Cornish Heritage Farms. The light blue paper was embossed and then sanded lightly to bring out some of the white in the paper; the main image was layered onto SU! Chocolate Chip paper. I used the ticket corner punch and added dew drops in each corner.

Quick, easy, fun and simple - what's not to love?

Hope you're having a great week and thanks for popping in! Hugs, ~M.

Birthday Flowers

Greetings friends! I have just returned from a fantastic whirlwind vacation to Texas Motor Speedway for the races - NASCAR, Nationwide, qualifying - you name it, we did it!!

Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net

We had such a fabulous time! I know...if I were REALLY organized, I would have planned some posts while I was gone. Well, let's just admit it - right now, right here - I'm NOT that organized! I was lucky to get myself packed, the children handled and to my designated spot Friday morning...I was 15 minutes late, but so was my friend, so it worked out GREAT!!

I'm sure you didn't stop by to hear me talk about my vacation, so onward we shall go! To some tulips...are these really tulips? You see, my friend's wife just had a birthday and she LOVES purple, so I figured if I made everything purple I was safe right? She loves tulips, so I determined these are tulips - LOL.

I put this card together so quick; love when that happens! The card & matching tag are made with SU! Lovely Lilac, SU! Basic Black, & SU! Whisper White. All coloring was done with Copics and I finished the card with some miscellaneous ribbon. Oh yes, and pearls, you all know how much I love those pearls!!

I stamped the base card with SU! French Script - love how it looks, but often forget to use it! I stamped the main image and embossed it with Black Fine Detail Embossing Powder and then colored away. I'm not real fond of the shadow on the card, but I do like the little shadow on the tag. Believe it or not, I cannot remember who makes this image - maybe Stampendous? URGH...should have made notes eh??

Lots of layering with purple and black...and I heard from my friend that his wife really liked the card. Oh happy dance!

Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net

Here is the tag I made to match the card; he was buying her this HUGE batch of purple tulips, so I thought it would be nice if he had a little tag he could write on and then tuck into the bouquet of tulips. I used a ton of miscellaneous fibers that I've had forever and fail to use. Come on...you know how that goes!

I haven't worked with purple in quite a while - it seems so bright, but I love how everything turned out.

Thanks for popping in; I can't wait to catch up on work, laundry, house cleaning...and then I MUST find some creating time for me!

Hugs, ~M.
